"The Kiln Hotel in Wakefield has the look and feel of a run down American Motel that has been abandoned several decades ago. Desperately in need of refurbishment it appears that the new owners have not made any improvements since taking over from Campanile Hotels. The room I stayed in for 1 night looked as if it had not been decorated for 20 years and still had a lingering odour of Cigarette smoke. "Had an overnight stay to facilitate an early morning coach connection. The room was comfortable as was the bed. The shower was great with powerful rainfall shower head. Breakfast was ok. "Looks good on the outside, but once inside the room it is very dated and dark. Room cleanliness was poor, long term dust in places. Shower head needs a good scrubbing. The food in the restaurant was very good, as was the breakfasts. On our 2nd night there was a wedding on with a late disco. Fortunately we couldn't hear the music in the room. However we were woken at 1.00 am by groups of people going to their rooms making lots of noise. We won't be back."

"Stayed in an annexe room that was a good size, comfortable double bed with lovely soft pillows. Good sized TV. A lot of noisy doors from nearby rooms as walls appear to be the egg box type. Many strange marks on the carpet in the room. Bathroom was old fashioned with a poor quality shower. Breakfast wasn’t the best, fruit and cereals with freshly prepared hot food. "Bathroom had a good shower Worse thing about this hotel was the let down on the key card wouldn’t open door every time we went out If had been by myself I would have been very very worried we tried everything one lady from reception brought up a machine to try it BUT next morning back to square one. I was disappointed as it was for me to try this hotel for me to come by myself when I come back to Barnsley to visit my family"
