"Pool was cold. Hot tub was colder. Floating leaves and a green slimy bottom."

"This may have been the LOUDEST hotel I have ever stayed out. We were were on the ground level next to an exit door that would slam shut extremely loud all night long as people left or entered the building. We also could hear noises above our room throughout the evening. About the worst night sleep in a long time. The desk agent was not able to move us when we asked for a different room. I would never stay at this hotel again even though it was very clean and relatively modern."

"Upon arrival the check-in was very easy. We were greeted by a wonderful lady who told us about the hotel & amenities that are offered. Room was spacious & clean. Breakfast was great & got us started for our long drive. Would definitely recommend this hotel."

"Feces and blood on the walls. Holes in the walls. The bath tub was black with filth and was broken. I can't even express the shock. They charged me for 3 nights when in reality we only stayed a few hours."

"The room had an interesting smell. Maybe the ventilation is not very good because it rains a lot in this part of the country, I’m not sure. The staff is definitely not the friendliest, some are better than others. Breakfast is very good. The gym is OK glad they have a peloton now but a lot of times that Wi-Fi wouldn’t work and I couldn’t log onto classes so I just had to do a solo ride. They could expand it and get more equipment to make it a little bit more useful. I ended up going to a Planet...

"My room was next to housekeeping room. Terrible idea. It was early morning and all you could hear was a banging noise. Never again."

"The rooms and lobby were clean and relatively well-maintained. We didn't have the opportunity to use the pool or gym, but we enjoyed the breakfast each morning and the staff did a nice job keeping everything clean and stocked. The hotel was a very short drive from the main road, which has plenty of of restaurants and retail areas. I would stay here again the next time I'm in the area."

The man across the hall from me was smoking weed and the hall stunk even though it’s smoke free. Area around hotel is crappy. The woman checking me in was completely unfriendly. Didn’t get my $50 incidental charge did not get refunded and I had to call."

"It is a lovely hotel. The room was new and well-appointed with some of the old bank building charm. It's upscale while being quaint and comfortable. We were on the 4th floor. The room had amazing upper windows. Very cool! The staff was lovely. Very accommodating and friendly. The location is ideal, right in the middle of town. We were very happy to stumble upon the Promissory Hotel!"

"For the price, this hotel is fine. However, don't be fooled by a rating over 7/10. It is closer to a 5/10. It was clean and the staff friendly but the maintenance is terrible. The last paint job was sloppy, the chairs in the rooms have stains on them, etc. It's essentially just showing its age. The price was good but don't get your hopes up on overall quality."
