"Stayed here before a university move in. I got a complimentary upgrade in room so that I could be near the second rom so had robe and slippers for spa. Comfortable spacious room. Spa very nice but in the morning steam room broken and jacuzzi cold. Gym big with lots of equipment Breakfast excellent. Parking cheaper if you book in advance. Easy walk into town"

"The room was clean and tidy, however when we stayed last year we had bottles of water in our room but this was not the case this time, I brought my own last year but didn't this year as I thought that bottles of water would be in our room. I also requested an extra pillow as the 2 pillows I had were flat, reception made a note of this but the pillow never arrived. Staff were all very welcoming, helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was lovely with a variety of breakfast choices available. the...

"Convenient location in an interesting historical property. Excellent restaurant."

"Excellent friendly staff And beautiful surroundings"

"Staff great room great, perfect place to stay for taking part in the Great North Run"

"Basic double courtyard rooms. Spacious rooms but standard double beds - though from the indentations on the carpet in mine, a Queen or King resided there before. Even so, the base "flat" sheets did not fit the mattress to the head exposing no protector. Total lack of information in my room (27) that was there in our daughter's (25) regarding wifi access and other info. I had to wash a tea cup in my room that had a sticky residue at the bottom of it and clear lip residue around the rim. No mixer...

"We had a news cottage with two rooms and a bathroom. It was comfortable and spacious with everything we needed."

"Great staff"

"Great service from the staff very helpful. Lovely breakfast. Great room with view of the river."

"The toilet flush was not very strong. The room has plenty of space but you might want to reconsider if you’re going in the summer as the room does not have air conditioning."

"Fantastic place to stay and lovely and clean. Had a problem opening the door and they send a person down to assist me quickly. Lovely place to stay and perfect hot tub too"

"The accommodation is a small studio flat which was well furnished and comfortable. Unfortunately, when the windows opened the road noise is too great to leave open and the room very warm so for me, not comfortable due to being too hot and poor quality sleep. There is a fan but only blowing around warm air so not great. Breakfast was okay but some food not that fresh, some of the rolls were from the previous day and a bit hard and some food put out for the 6am opening and still there an hour or...

"Castle itself is great. The annexe rooms are very small, basic. Bathroom again is tiny and cramped. Its a shower /bath which if mobility issues would be hard to get in and out. Shower ran at lukewarm . Would be better to rip out and install standing walking shower. Rooms all need a full refurb."
