"A bit cramped but for exploring Funchal the location is excellent- we booked a room with a double bed and got a room with two singles which spoilt our arrival but we got a double bed the next night after contacting Expedia. Breakfast was nothing to write home about but it sufficed"

"Villa Alto is a lovely old house set high up in the hills above Ponta do Sol. With beautiful views. You will definitely need a hire car. Our room (no 9)was small and needed some TLC. The weather during our stay was stormy and the room was cold and damp. The curtains were stained and hanging from the rails....
