"Lovely hotel. Our room had a little balcony with a great view over the water. Nice foyer sitting area with a pellet burning stove. There is an attached traditional bar and restaurant serving good cold dishes, but no hot meals. Excellent selection of cured meats and cheeses and their own label wine. Very good value."

"Hemos estado una noche y nos ha encantado. El servicio y la atención han sido de 10 y sus propietarios unos excelentes anfitriones. La habitación es cómoda y la casa en general, muy limpia. El entorno natural, los animales, los espacios al aire libre, el servicio y la zona infantil, hacen de Mendi Alai, el lugar perfecto para una escapada en familia. "el paraje es idílico. para visitar el valle e interior de Cantabria es perfecto. Cuevas muy cerca, el nacimiento del río Asón una maravilla de ruta que comienza justo en las Casucas. Son ideales tanto por fuera como por dentro. Muy rústico todo y bien cuidado. Lo necesario para unos días y disfrutar del campo y la naturaleza."

"This was the worst place we have stayed in 7 weeks of travelling. Tiny room. Double bed against the wall. Bedhead freestanding & moves every time you roll over. Tiny bathroom. No room for cases. In house restaurant closed the 3 nights we stayed. Had to travel 10 kms to find an evening meal. Advertises that it’s 25kms from Bilbao, when it was more like 35km. Extremely noisy from any activity in the passage. Cleaning staff rolling their trolley up & down the passage from a very early hour. Best...
