Lakes Hotel and Spa
10/10 Excellent
"Staff were all really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us, free room upgrade to a junior suite with a hot tub absolutely made our day. Spa is included and you can go in it at any time without having to book or pay extra and it’s open late at night. 11am check out which is great as a lot of places do 10am which we find really early. Really good food in the pub. Really relaxing stay. This is our second time here and we will return. "

Lakeside Hotel & Spa
10/10 Excellent
"Very clean room and the staff were great and very helpful without being intrusive. We had the continental breakfast which was great and plentiful choice.
We used the spa daily, the pool was like stepping into a bath it was so warm and we enjoyed the sauna and steam room.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet relaxing break, we took the boat to Ambleside and back and the girls in the kiosk who were very informative and pleasant.
The hotel is on flat land with lots of space for walking or sitting out and having drinks hot or cold. Suitable for those of us who have mobility problems. Two lifts are available but there is a bit of a journey to reach them as they are situated in the new part of the hotel but, can’t be helped as it would have ruined the grand style if they tried to pit them near the reception
Parking outside is chargeable to a separate company. Blue badge holders can park free if a token is obtained from the hotel and all others must park 400 yards further away with a token but can unload in a space outside the hotel."

Keswick Country House Hotel
8/10 Good
"A very nice place."

The Belsfield Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"Lovely stay, but hotel is old and tired, think the new owners are in the process of getting the place back up to scratch. Prime location, central to everything in Bowness "

OYO Imperial Hotel
8/10 Good
"The free parking outside (not in the taxi rank) was great, especially for a town centre. Receptionist was super helpful pointing this out to us when we arrived, as the attached car park was full. Hotel currently undergoing renovations but they did point this out everywhere and was also aware from the reviews too and room was pretty warm on the evening, although they did provide a fan this was the only reason for not giving 5 stars.
Free breakfast was good (despite the not-so-great reviews of it) staff were amazing, so friendly and accommodating, could help yourself to toast/bread, pastries, cereal, apple/orange juice, yoghurts, apples/oranges and then order a hot dish from the main menu, we got a vegetarian breakfast which I chose scrambled egg, my partner poached and we got a hash brown, half a mushroom, tomato and vegan sausage. To say the breakfast was free and the double room was £60 on a last minute Saturday night booking, including parking and breakfast for 2 I couldn't complain at all. Good value for money, decent selection, lift in the hotel too which wasn't expecting.
I do understand peoples comments on the communal areas, the breakfast area could be improved with some small improvements such as investing in proper tables/units to lay the buffet out on but also would the added cost for the hotel outweigh the added nicety to a customer experience, i am unsure"

Woodlands Guest House Windermere

Ox Hotel Carlisle
4/10 Poor
"This was the Hilltop hotel which has come a long way since its heyday. The car park is good for a first impression but the broken hotel board on the building as you go to reception tells a different story. Booking in was quick and easy and the receptionist was friendly and efficient. Our room was on the second floor but no lift so got our exercise for the day! Corridors were well lit and the carpet was clean and tidy and the walls had recently been painted white. The room was clean as were the towels and bed linen. Small wardrobe and two bedside cabinets together with a desk and chair which had a kettle with tea and coffee for a quick cuppa. Bathroom with shower also clean and tidy with soap dispensers but no other toiletries. Room felt a bit spartan but serviceable. Bed was a little hard but we got a full nights sleep with no noise from anywhere in the hotel. Breakfast room was a little spartan but also clean and tidy with plenty of tables and chairs available. There was cereal available together with fruit juice and hot drinks. Standard sliced white or brown bread for the toaster which was quick. Hot plate had a good selection: Bacon, Sausage, Hash browns, beans, tomatoes, fried eggs and mushrooms. All very tasty and well cooked. It was self service / buffet with staff around but we only had to check in for the breakfast with no issues. View from the rear of the hotel was worth seeing (hills / trees). Not the worst hotel we have stayed in but not the best either for 1 night"
