"We had the BEST time at Ella Retreat! Sadly on 34 hours long but this hotel is seriously beautiful, better than the pictures. You need a head for heights on the (slightly hairy) tuk tuk ride up the mountain, but once you're there this is a haven that you simply cannot afford to miss on your trip to Sri Lanka. "A beautiful property nestled in the jungle. The views were amazing and the sounds of the rushing river were super relaxing. The rooms were big and airy. There is no air conditioning but some ceiling fans that do the job perfectly (we were never too hot at night) - the pool with the river view in room 10 was spectacular. "The worst hotel in the entire universe..toilet smelling..gave used soap wrapped in tissue, no fridge, no vanity, broken shower head, to go to toilet, have to cross wet shower floor, flies sitting all over breakfast food, no tissue, no face towel, no hand towel, reception did not talk, did not provide any information, asked bell boy about dinner, he said buffe, but when went to restaurant, no buffe..only fried rice and pasture..had to abandon the restaurant and went for dinner in the town.
