A modern bar with a wooden table, black chairs, and hanging light fixtures.
A modern building with a pink neon sign, surrounded by trees and a well-lit street.
A nighttime view of a modern bridge over a calm river, with illuminated buildings in the background.
A crowded boat tour along a canal with historic buildings on both sides.

Take a holiday in Sydhavnen and enjoy everything the district has to offer

Sydhavnen is situated in the southern harbour area of Copenhagen. The district comprises three old industrial areas, Sluseholmen, Teglholmen and Enghave Brygge, which are all being developed into popular residential and commercial areas. This exciting Copenhagen neighbourhood offers experiences all year round, whether culinary or sightseeing. Or perhaps an active holiday in Sydhavnen with plenty of outdoor activities would be your thing?

Many may not associate city breaks with outdoor experiences but the two can easily be combined in Sydhavnen. Hire a kayak and view the city from the water while paddling around the Sydhaven basins and canals in central Copenhagen. Or go on one of the many popular canal cruises.

If you visit Sydhavnen during the summer months, you can enjoy the popular Havnebadet pool at Sluseholmen, with unsurpassed water clarity Havnebadet is suitable for children and adults, with four different pools: one for younger children, one for older children and two for exercising and diving. Havnebadet is also open in winter, but only to members.

Take a stroll around the newly built neighbourhoods in Sluseholmen and Teglholmen. Here the buildings run all the way down at the waterfront and are separated by small canals that remind you of a modern version of Venice. You can walk from Sluseholmen to Teglholmen via Teglværks Bridge.

If you are fond of greenery, peace and quiet you will enjoy a walk in Vestre Kirkegård, the largest cemetery in Denmark. Many famous Danes such as the Prime Minister Thorvald Stauning and the revue star Liva Weel are buried here and a walk through the graveyard is also a walk through Danish cultural history. During the summer months, free tours of the cemetery are arranged.

You can visit Sydhavnen as part of your visit to Copenhagen, and regular flights land at Copenhagen International Airport from locations around the UK. Sydhavnen makes a great base for excursions around the Danish capital, and you can easily walk or cycle to many Copenhagen attractions from here. Tivoli and the Zoo Gardens are less than 4 miles from Sydhavnen.
