"The property was clean and the room had nice sea views. The rooms are in a converted house next to the Indian restaurant at the site. They are as mentioned in the description accessed via stairs .. quite a few although was offered help with bags. The main negative factor is the location. We arrived and witnessed an altercation on the street in the mid-afternoon with a women punched in the face. The police attended. We looked for other food options but only fish and chips available nearby....

"Room was very clean but bath was cracked and shower screen leaked all over the floor so got out of shower and there was more water onnthe floor than ran down the drain, stayed in the townhouse on the opposite side of the road and was very quiet indeed, rooms are named after colours and I was in the room named "scarlet" needless to say EVERYTHING was red, not really to my taste but was quite a quirky thing. Bed was very comfortable and staff were extremely pleasant as well. Would definitely stay...

"The Royal Victoria Hotel gets so much right it hardly seems worth mentioning anything it falls down on- but for info I'll mention the TV in the lounge was broken so no World Cup, and the room was warm at night- but that's a common experience across the industry. The food, service, gardens, cleanliness and interiors were superb. This was our second visit; standards still as high as ever. And the food at the restaurant - it's knockout. A credit to the region."

"We had a nice spacious room, if on the top floor of the nearby Ty Dre Town House. It was very quiet and we slept well in the very big and comfortable bed. The reception staff were very polite and helpful. We only stopped two nights but ate, both nights, in the Black Boy. It had a good range of meals of locally sourced ingredients. Between us, we tried four, all delicious, possibly more generous helpings than we needed! I also found a very nice local real ale pint ~ so good, I managed 3 each...

"Hotel looking very tired. 3 black bin bags and a broken cup remained in the corridor for 2 days and was still there when I left. Booked a double room but was given one with 3 beds, window didn’t open. Nowhere to put any wash bags etc in the bathroom. Bed was comfy and food was ok. Be aware if you book to stay via a third party app like Expedia, the hotel will charge you £10 per night to park in the car park"

"The whole hotel was spotless. The rooms were quiet, I slept very well, and the food was amazing. We were visiting from Houston, Texas, and would definitely like to visit again. "

"This hotel was probably state of the art 35/40 yrs ago. It’s very well photographed but in honesty… it’s awful. Rooms are worn out, carpets in places are threadbare. Bathroom had various it’s broken or loose. In the evenings was a constant smell of over cooked vegetables that was very unpleasant. Having spoken to locals it’s recently been taken over but it’s in need of HUGE investment I (and neither will my colleagues) definitely won’t be staying there again."
