Friendly Place Near Winter Sports

The Chaffee Lodge was a good location south of Buffalo to enjoy winter sports at a reasonable price. The host, Scott, was very friendly and gave us tips on good places to eat and what to visit in the area.

There are very few hotel/motels in the area. The room was fine and the location okay, but there could have been a few things done to up-keep the property: the grass around the facility sign was overgrown and the property just had a bit of "unkemptness" to it...

The guy at front desk very nice man...the bed was comfy...air and heat worked great...the shower leaked n dripped all night...the toilet didnt work the next morning...kinda run down...overall i would stay again...

Location was convenient for our travel needs. We were visiting waterfalls in Buffalo area earlier in the day, ended with the awesome eternal Flame Falls. Chaffee Inn. Was on our way to Letchworth State Park which was our main stop the following day. It would have been less $ if we booked directly thru the lodge, but the hotel didn't return our email or phone call soon enough so we booked thru Expedia instead. So if you can book direct it's a better deal.

The Manager was very accommodating for what I was looking for (1 night stay). He was also helpful with recommendations in the area. Had a very comfortable king size bed and normal room features.On my short stay, the bathroom is the only thing that needs updating. -can't lock it from the inside -shower took some time to manage (pretty old) It's definitely more of a lodge than a Motel, but had the comforts necessary for the wife & I. I just think I could have have spent less. -

Very disappointing, left early.

Positives: The owner was very friendly and helpful. The size of the refrigerator was excellent. Everything else was disappointing. The room was dark, the tv shut off by itself, everything felt dirty. It was like walking into a guest room that was furnished by the Goodwill in the 1960’s. The florescent light in the bathroom stopped working on the second day. When we checked out early the owner asked if they had done anything wrong, I said we finished our trip early, which was true. I then told him about the tv and bathroom light. He said he that he would have left too. Once again, the owner was great but the hotel needs a lot of work. I have no idea how this hotel has a 8.5 rating.

The room was dirty & unkept . The bed sheets in room 5 ( April 9, 2026 ) were NOT replaced prior to our arrival. When my wife & I were about to get in bed for the night we saw that the sheets contained someones grittiness . Who in the hell wants to crawl into that ? My wife was disgusted . It's MY WIFE ! We left around 3:00 am on 04/10/26 . Tried to get a refund but they declined . Chaffee Lodge is a JOKE & so is the long bearded fast talking lobby attendant ( "manager" LoL ) Also when my wife & I returned at 9:45 pm on 04/09/26 after visiting some friends the entire lobby & hallway reeked with the smell of weed .
