A wonderful place and would like to give it 5 stars, but it is about 15 mins from the airport even though booking puts it within a kilometer. It gets noisy with the planes, but during the night it was fine. Stay there for the experience. Also to be fair, it was cold and rainy when I was there, so the beach would have stood out way more. Beautiful beach.
The staff made the experience truly memorable. The beach is big and lovely, the breakfast plentiful, and the room, clean and sunny. But the mission-oriented and generous staff made the stay feel like a home away from home. They were inspiring.
These are kind people doing good in the world. It’s nominally a “hostel” but it's a higher caliber than the word implies. If you need to spend a night in Catania ahead of a flight, you can do no better.

The staff was awesome and super friendly and helpful. Desk is open 24 hours. Many staff are ex-refugees from Africa. This is owned by a Catholic Christian group running youth programs next door to hostel. This is not a hotel but a hostel. Rooms are individual with very tiny private bathroom and shower, simple bed and furnishings. But it had decent simple breakfast, beautiful private ocean beach, very near airport, and cheap mini-van for transport to airport. There is noise from airplanes because it is so near to airport, early morning to about 11 pm, but not overnight, so maybe bring earplugs if you are light sleeper.
Had only one night there. So to little to really judge.
However. Personal was really nice and helpful and the beach wa fantastic.
Can argue that the hotel itself is a bit tired. But it works.
We left after two nights because this might be the worst hotel in which I have ever stayed. The sink in the bathroom did not drain. When reported to the front desk, we were met with indifference, so two days passed with a backed up sink. The shower was the smallest I have ever encountered - 20 inches by 20 inches (.5 meter x .5 meter). The lukewarm water dribbled out - barely, meaning that it was very difficult to rinse the soap off. The shower was so small that one had to stand in the bathroom but not in the shower because one could not raise one's arms. The food in the restaurant barely reached a mediocre level. There were two choices - the same for both nights and no deviation from the set menu was permitted. The room was relatively clean, but certainly not spotless. The pillow on the bed were uncomfortable. The grounds were less than mediocre. Our room was advertised as a garden view. It was a trash heap view. The tanning deck looked like it was last renovated about 1960 (about 60 years ago). The sand on the beach was not that clean - alot of dirt and sticks mixed in. The best thing this hotel could do is close and undergo a year long renovation.
