"Staying at hotel America was like staying in a Soviet era tower block in Moscow in the 1970s. My room was very cold and I had to request heating to be put on. Even with the extra (old and grubby) blanket I was cold all night. On the morning of our trip, we left by car at 8:20 am and got to the railway station platform by 8:28 for an 8:30 departure— yes literally 8 minutes which even included time to park and purchase tickets for the cogwheel train up to the monastery.
