"What a wonderful find. We booked the studio apartment and it was huge. Separate bedroom, full size bathroom with everything you could need. A small kitchen with a large seating area. Gorgeous furnishings and top quality bedding. TV in lounge and bedroom.
The really special touch though was a pint of milk in the fridge , along with a pack of locally made crumpets, butter and the nicest raspberry jam I’ve ever had. Oh and a small bar of lovely lemon soap to take home.
Well done to all at The Halston, you have got it spot on"
"Staff were friendly and made the stay enjoyable.
The fish and chips was excellent with lovely and very fresh haddock. Easy access to Derwent Water. Decent free parking.
Would most certainly stay again."
"This is an older hotel in a gorgeous location right on Grasmere Lake. The interior has been modernized, which some traditionalists lament, but it is very comfortable. There is humorous, whimsical art throughout the facility. The large spa is a real plus. Breakfasts are ample and offer plenty of options. Large bathtubs in the rooms are very nice. Our shower stall often smelled musty, but this could be relieved by leaving the door open. A full length mirror in each room would be a good addition. If space is a concern, it could even be placed on the back of a closet door.
All in all, a beautiful place in a prime location. We would stay here again."
"For what we paid for the room we were not expecting much, from the outside and communal area it looked like its in need of some TLC but we recieved a lovely welcome from reception all reception staff were very friendly, we were pleasantly surprised when we opened the door to our room, nice big room, seats to sit, places to put clothes, clean, the bed was comfortable and we had a wonderful nights sleep some lovely little touches like tea cofee and biscuits plastic cups, we had booked breakfast also not expecting much for what we paid i can not fault the choices and it was very tasty. About a 20 min walk to the town centre but we could have caught a bus at the bottom of the street. We would recommend and would stay again "
"Had a lovely break at Pinegrove, we had a recently refurbished room, mucky footprints on the bathroom floor but the rest of the room was clean, a bedside table for both sides of the bed would have been nice and/or a table to use the kettle on, we had to rest it on a chair, hotel is a little outdated & could do with a lick of paint, but that said we would stay there again. Breakfast was very good"
"I had the superior family room, which is fantastic. It is spacious, clean and includes a ‘living space’ with dresser, shelving, fridge, coffee facilities, table and sofa. I always feel so comfortable and at home here. Management team are friendly and always have time to say hello and make me feel welcome. Staff go out their way to make sure my stay meets my expectations, plus more. I sometimes need to stay longer than expected, and they are very accommodating to do their best to keep me in the same room, minimising any troubles to myself, even if at last minute. If it is possible, they always try their best. Even when busy. I appreciate this effort so much as it ensures my holiday is as relaxing as possible. Housekeeping are more than happy to provide whatever you may need, and offer to service the room, however, there is very little needed as the room is always equipped with plenty towels, coffee facilities etc. I am happy to maintain room myself, asking for any extras if ever required. They couldn’t be more helpful. Spa and gym are exactly whats required. Spacious, clean, towels and robes are provided. Treatments are available on request at extra cost. Definitely worth a try. Although these can be booked up pretty quickly. I’d advise booking a day in advance for treatments. I tend not to take breakfast, I don’t personally like the set up nor find it good value for money. This will depend on individual preference, ofcourse."
