  • Let me preface these discoveries by saying that I ended up in Calella haphazardly. It is not necessarily a town that I would generally recommend. It is not your traditional Spanish/Catalan dream destination. It very much looks like something the 70's spit out and no one ever bothered to clean up. With that said, I freaking love this little freakish town, which I quickly & affectionately nicknamed "The Twilight Zone." The strangest occurrences happened throughout the month, yes MONTH, I lived in Calella. Apparently since the 70's, Calella, was a booming tourist destination for Western Europeans and the British. It has been on a massive decline over the past decade. What's left behind though are some fun Dutch and English/Irish pubs, a small welcoming expat community, and one of the most incredible beaches you will ever lay your eyes on. Beautiful clean white sand for miles and crystal clear turquoise water. Parties & bars on the beach, some free concerts in the summer time and of course drinking it allowed as well. If you happen to find yourself here, you must stop in at Beach Boys Club, tell the owners, Brian & Cathy, that Amber sent you. Then hit up Brian for his secret stash of American imported Budweiser (Did you know the bottled stuff is always produced in country? Brian believes the secrets in the water, so he gets the cans from the US. Brian is British, which makes this little story even better.) Also, be prepared to eat a lot of rotisserie chicken.

Very happy with my stay at Sant Jordi. The staff are so wondeful, the hotel has beautiful facilities and the room is spacious and very clean. The hotel is very close to the beach, which isn't as crowded as other beaches around the Barcelona/Costa Brave region. The wellness spa in the adjacent building is also very nice and was the perfect way to decompress after a full day of exploring Calella. I am most definitely going to come back.

The hotel was wonderful because our room was very comfortable and clean and equipped with everything we needed. The entire staff at Sant Jordi Boutique Hotel was extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. They went beyond the usual in ensuring that our stay was enjoyable. Our reservation included access to Silence spa, which was fantastic. We will definitely return!

What an amazing stay at the Sant Jordi Hotel. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. Beautiful, tasteful rooms, balcony with a view, amazing breakfasts, lunch by the pool and a lovely quiet pool area, so relaxing. All the staff are helpful, knowledgeable and nothing is too much. The rooms also come with Spa access to the Spa next door, this was amazing, so many water treatments and all complimentary. You can also have a massage or Spa treatment at a reasonable price. The hotel is in a great location for the beach and a short walk from the bars and restaurants. What more to say other than to book and have a lovely time.

We had a lovely one night stay at the end of our Honeymoon. Our suite was beautiful. The bed was big and comfortable. There's two balconies and loads of lovely light and views which you don't see in the pictures. The staff was so helpful and friendly. The spent tome in the SPA which was amazing and so well worth a visit. The location is great and in a quiet part of the town. Lastly the breakfast was fabulous. Unfortunately we didnt get a chance to eat dinner in the restaurant. Would highly recommend a visit. *****

This is a very well-run hotel with friendly, attentive and welcoming staff. The room was very comfortable, although the "high-tech" lighting took a bit of getting used to. The buffet breakfast was good with a cooked-to-order option if required. The gym and spa were well-appointed and the pool area is a nice quiet place to relax in the sun. The beach is a 5-10 minute walk away and the hotel provides free beach towels each day. There's not much going on in the evening, though, so we walked into the town centre for drinks and dinner - about 10 mins to the first bars and another 10 for decent restaurants, though there's a good local fish restaurant about 5 mins away.

Excellent experience in Spain. High quality service in a very cozy hotel. This hotel distinguish itself from the typical huge 5 star hotel for its personalized service and for the sympathy of its staff. We took the Spa package and it was great. The location of the hotel is perfect as you are only at a 5 minutes walk from the beach. It has a parking (price not included in the offer I found in Expedia). Also they have a Michelin awarded restaurants and it is wonderful. We highly recommend to go to this hotel.
