"Room was fine, tea and coffee wasn't very nice and no complementary biscuits. No magnifying mirror in the bathroom. States Brompton however 8 miles away. Bed was really uncomfortable. Evening meal was nice, 10% surcharge on you bill! Wine expenses! Breakfast was so so. Waited a long time for someone to come to the checkin fest on arrival and departure. Probably would try an alternative hotel "

"The bar was well stocked great pub atmosphere. Our twin room was lovely and spacious. Beds were comfy. Host were friendly left us in peace. The back door was easy quick exit for leaving. There is room for improvement on the corridor to the stairs of our room. Overall would happily stay again. Did not try the food."

"Superb location and venue. Delightful pub with top cask ale and the food was sublime. Breakfast was fabulous. Staff were highly friendly and attentive. The only negative was the electric shower which was very temperamental and low pressure. A real treat though overall."

"A lovely stay in a beautiful part of the world. We stayed in one of the accessible rooms, so can’t comment on the other accommodation, but our room was clean, if a little dated. The real positives were the staff, genuinely lovely and welcoming – along with excellent food and a great selection of local beers on tap. "Fantastic location. Ideal for what we needed but also really rural-feeling and peaceful. We found it quiet and charming. We enjoyed wandering in amongst the old orchard and down through the copse, across the scrubland that forms part of the floodplain of the Tyne. It was good to know there are badgers around although we weren’t lucky enough to see anyway. The dawn chorus was impressive. Very pleasant indeed. Definitely will book again if we’re back in the area. "

"This is a classic quaint, village inn, excellent food, and very comfortable folksy rooms with loft beds. The proprietor and all the staff are super helpful and friendly. A perfect spot to hike directly to the best spots of Hadrians Wall."
