The check-in process at Sleepy Forest Cottages was extremely easy, and the staff were very friendly, which made for a positive start to our stay. This was my first time visiting Big Bear and staying in a cottage, and overall the experience was enjoyable and memorable. The location is convenient, with most attractions and activities within about a mile, which made getting around very easy.
That said, there were a few drawbacks that stood out. Upon arrival, we noticed a bullet hole in the door, which was unexpected and concerning, as it is something I have never encountered before. Additionally, while reviews mentioned that the property had been renovated, the paintwork appeared poorly done in several areas, with visible scuffing and damage that made the space feel unfinished.
Unfortunately, the bed was also quite uncomfortable, which affected the quality of our sleep. We did consider relocating to another property but ultimately decided to stay for the two nights. While the cottage has potential to be much better with some improvements, the stay price we paid was reasonable for the location.
