"Breakfast very nice"

"We booked The Relais Cooden beach via Expedia particularly for its location and spa facilities. We had booked the "Cosy double room" because that was all that was left. On arrival we tried to book spa treatments but there were no available bookings during our three night stay. This was disappointing as there was no mention on the Expedia website that you needed to book in advance. Apparently, guests who booked directly with the hotel enjoyed free use of the spa whereas booking through Expedia...

"Room needs a deep clean. Dirty water drip marks on door to bathroom and also some dried brown streeks. Wardrobe had dead inserts on the shelf and base. Towel was worn around the edges, wearing thin and small holes not what I expect from a hotel. No housekeeping unless you paid extra. So had to use the same towel of 5 days. "Staff were very helpful and the breakfasts were good, catering for those with allergies. Lovely quiet hotel with good sized rooms. Good location for exploring other places nearby."

"Rooms are comfortable and beds terrific. Young staff could use some hospitality training on how to be more friendly and gracious with guests, or at least a smile. Could have made an effort to be more accommodating- ie arrived just as dinner service ended. Could have offered snacks, nuts, something… Asked about GF breakfast options. Didn’t seem to know so I had to ask item by item… toast? Breakfast meats? Beans?"

"Have stayed in 4 hotels and B&B’s in Eastbourne and this is by far and away the best one I’ve stayed in. Victorian features, stain glass windows combined with a modern style. Breakfast choices were eggcelent with proper sausages and bacon, the “house” scrambled eggs was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was a bonus as that area of Eastbourne can be tricky to find spaces to park at night. Would definitely stay at The New England again."

"What a fantastic short break, owners are so friendly and do their upmost to ensure you have a relaxing stay. Rooms are extremely well decorated with all mod cons. Lovely little bar and breakfast is a must"
