"Pet friendly stay for One night . Clean and comfortable. Didnt have dinner, breakfast very nice , lovely lady serving. Fresh milk delivered first thing in the morning a nice touch. Charge of £25 PER NIGHT for a pet I believe is excessive. £20 per stay seems the average these days . So I suppose £25 per stay would be acceptable for the quality of establishment. NOT £25 per night though !"

"Insane place to go and stay. Great location. Staff had so many helpful tips. The walks were great. The food amazing. Perfect little adventure hotel that had everything you could want and more"

"Nice lounge to relax and read. Breakfast was great quality, lots of choice and good coffee! We booked a private room with ensuite which was in the barn annex. This was basic, but ok, but the heating wasn't working in that building. Soaking wet after 20mile walk. Staff eventually moved us to another private room, 4 bed, in the main building. On arrival at 5pm was told to order dinner before 6.30pm as there was a large group booked in at 7pm. So we did at 6.00pm only to be told the chef was now...

"Will not be returning, staff not helpful at all, dog friendly but couldn’t even let the dog have a sausage at breakfast as they had ran out, they had also ran out of biscuits for the room, garden peas and orange juice. Not a cheap nights stay so these things should not be running out!! Best staff were the morning we were leaving, had they had been on all weekend it would have made it a more pleasant stay"

"Large room, comfortable free parking, desk in the room and a number of plugs available on each wall. The stuff is fantastic and very helpful to accommodate guests. The building is a bit tired and in need of refurbishment. I would stay again"

"We stayed in a four poster bedroom in late October 26. The hotel is a fascinating place (in a good way). Steeped in history but extremely well maintained. The bedroom was superb, luxurious and super clean with a very comfortable bed. We had both evening meal and breakfast at the hotel. Both were exceptional and decent value too. The staff were all professional, polite and friendly. Only minor gripe is the parking. The hotel parking itself is small and tight. Plus you will need to be there...

"Kind friendly and hospital hosts Great suggestions for walking in beautiful countryside"

"Room was filthy, dust, dirt and cobwebs. Bathroom smelt like poo. Sink leaked. Entire room smelt of damp. Bed atrocious. The pillows were flat as pancakes and very old. Fridge didn't work. Staff friendly."

"10 min walk to the train station"

"A good hotel in a really beautiful setting. Good quality food in restaurant at a sensible price. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Additional bonus of a geothermally heated olympic size outdoor pool. Easy on-site free parking."

"A nice hotel with great staff and a filling breakfast included. It could do with a little TLC, but recommended."

"Loved this place, very welcoming, excellent and attentive service with a bit of humour thrown in! Super rooms which were spotless and well maintained. Very generous vegetarian breakfast which was very tasty! Would highly recommend."

"Absolutely fantastic hotel - fabulous food. Exceptionally clean room, lovely bar, excellent food. Definitely will be returning."

"Absolutely beautiful hotel set in gorgeous grounds. On arrival I joked with my husband that we were probably in an attic room 😄 and we were! but despite the stairs the room was great, big enough with a great bed. Cleanliness was excellent and bathroom huge with great fluffy towels, staff on reception were so pleasant and friendly both day and night. Breakfast hot and plentiful with choices for everyone. Will definitely stay again but perhaps in a ground floor room 😀"

"Nice room to myself. I bought breakfast and dinner also, really well cooked. Good value for money"

"Thoroughly recommended"
