"Stayed here over the bank holiday as a family of 4. The hotel itself is nice and the outside space is green and relaxing. However, we were given a very hot top-floor room during 28°C weather, with no air conditioning and windows that barely opened. The fan provided did not help and none of us could sleep. This room really should not have been given to a family in such hot weather in the first place. At 2am we had to ask for another room, which meant moving tired children in the middle of the night and only getting a few hours of sleep. Staff at breakfast were also not very friendly. Overall, a disappointing stay."

The Langstone Quays

"Very disappointing stay at Langstone Quay Hotel. The room was poorly maintained and several basic amenities were missing despite booking for three guests. Only two mugs and two hot chocolates were provided, and only five pillows instead of six. Reception promised to send another pillow but nothing ever arrived. The windows in the room were locked shut, making the room extremely uncomfortable. We contacted reception multiple times and were repeatedly told someone would deal with it, but no action was ever taken. I even had to go downstairs personally to chase the issue and still nothing was resolved. The lack of urgency and customer care was shocking. To make matters worse, the bathroom light was faulty, the hand wash dispenser was broken, and the bathroom door handle was loose and nearly falling off. The room clearly had not been properly checked or maintained before guests arrived. The situation became so stressful that my mother, who suffers from anxiety, experienced a panic attack during the stay due to the lack of ventilation and the hotel staff completely ignoring our concerns. Overall, this was an unacceptable experience and far below the standards expected from a hotel advertised through Expedia. Poor maintenance, poor customer service, and no accountability from staff. I would not recommend staying here."

Harbour Hotel Brighton

"Stayed at Harbour Hotel Brighton for my partner’s 30th birthday and honestly left disappointed. We arranged for a bottle of champagne and strawberries to be waiting in the room on arrival. Instead, we were delivered a warm bottle of Prosecco and told the champagne would arrive the next day. Despite mentioning it multiple times throughout the stay, it never appeared. The biggest issue though was the condition of the rooms. The first room was dirty, tired, and poorly maintained. Stains throughout the carpets, marks on furniture, rusty shower fittings, dirty skirting boards, grimy areas around the bathroom, and general lack of upkeep. We were moved to another room, but even that had stains all over the carpet and still felt worn out and neglected. To make matters worse, we received no housekeeping service until we specifically asked for it. The spa experience was mixed. My partner’s facial was apparently lovely, and the staff themselves were polite whenever we spoke to them, but the spa area also looked tired and poorly maintained. I also came out in a rash after using the hot tub, which made me question whether the chemical balance was being properly monitored. Despite booking a £100 treatment, there was still an extra £10 charge just to use the spa facilities, which felt a bit cheap for a hotel positioning itself as four-star luxury. This doesn’t seem like bad luck either — after looking through Google reviews, there are plenty of photos showing very similar room conditions."

10/10 Excellent

"Great stay at The Grand in Brighton. Nice large room with ac which was very welcome in the 30 degree heat! The Spa was beautiful and very relaxing. Location was perfect for exploring Brighton. I would definitely stay there again."

"Searched specifically for a hotel with a pool, turn up at the pool to find out that kids are only allowed in for 2 x 2 hour sessions. Only a fan in the room, no air conditioning, so no one slept well."

"THe place needs to be updated. All connections for phones, etc, require a plug to charge, which you have to bring. Most of then places we have stayed have upgraded with these connections"

"nice hotel at a good price. The room was not ready at the time when we were supposed to check in, which was a little frustrating, but other than that it was a nice stay"

"Everything about the place was good, the staff, the bar clean room, I didn’t eat breakfast cause I never woke up in time for breakfast but their menu for lunch and dinner was good"
