"What a great hotel. The staff were really friendly and the public areas and the rooms decorated to a very high standard. My wife used the spa and had a massage which she really enjoyed. Personally I think the outside of the hotel could do with an update but that in no way detracts from what is delivered inside. "

"Second time back and just as charming as ever. Sue and the team has managed the property in good condition even though it’s been like 7 years since I visited last. Ambleside is a very central location in the Lake District area with many choices for dining and activities. The outstanding part of the room is the amazing bathroom with big shower and strong water pressure enabling you to comfortable relax after a long day of hiking. "Very pretty country location. The rooms including common rooms were all lovely. The tiny bathrooms were cramped and windowless and let the property down. Breakfasts were lovely, with lots of choice. We didn’t have dinner there, as prices were over the top, compared with what we were paying in other locations on our trip around the UK. "

"When we arrived for our weekend away, they greated us by advising us that they had upgraded us to a room with a view, which straight away made us even more happier. Beautiful location and hotel and the Spa and breakfast were brilliant as well. Just missing a gym for us, then it would have been perfect. Defo going again. "

"Location is great. Staff are very helpful, breakfast is excellent and lots of choice. We had a superior room at the Windermere Rooms. I expected a better view/facilities for the cost, rooms were very warm but could be easily fixed by turning the radiators down. Floor in the bedroom was slightly uneven which didn’t affect the stay but something I didn’t expect for the price of the room. I would definitely stay again but probably wouldn’t pay for a superior room."

"I’m in love with this property and the staff. My husband and I both said it’s the loveliest Hotel we’ve ever been to. Every inch of the property is stunning. The owners thought of every detail, and then some. The staff were unbelievably amazing. Saying goodbye to them was hard to do. We had the most amazing meals on site by a tremendously talented chef.
