Sure, I’m vaguely familiar with the meditation and enlightenment aspect of it but that has been the limits of my knowledge. Recently I have decided to take a deeper look at the practice and in turn a deeper look into myself.

At the core of Buddhism are The four Noble Truths, the first of which being that in life there is suffering. However the teachings guides you through the reasons for suffering and how to end suffering. One major cause to human suffering is our desire, craving such things as material goods and then leading to our attachment to them. With this identified one can choose to crave less and understand that the only thing permanent in life is impermanence. All that we have now will not last forever so why get attached to them when they will only cause us suffering when they are gone. I’m not talking on a superficial level that is only thought about in times of crisis but on a day to day basis.

Looking at this monk walking on the beach at the crack of dawn in only a robe and without shoes, I get it now. I don’t think I could be as disciplined as this but I got to start somewhere.

"Location was nice, but it’s in a dead area. Blúport is close by, but that’s about it and you have to use taxi or walk everywhere else. For the price, I would rather pay a little bit more and stay by the ocean. There’s also not as much and amenities. The website states they offer complimentary shuttle to downtown. It was just Hua Hin Night Market and Cicada Night Market. Drop off times are extremely limited 6:30 or 7pm drop off and 8:15pm pick up. I opted for the 6:30pm drop off and 8:15pm pick up at Cicada Night Market and made reservations through the front desk. However, the driver told me that we must be picked up earlier. I’m going to guess it’s for his convenience so we decided to cancel our reservation and just pay extra for grab pick up. Positive side, the front desk is nice. And the rooms overall are clean. House keeping is really helpful and friendly. Security guard out front is also very nice. "
