The municipality of Strand has two towns, Tau and Jørpeland, with a combined population of just over 12,000. The area is well known for being quite rural, but the proximity to Stavanger still makes it attractive to many. When visiting the area, make sure to visit Jørpeland Farm, which dates back to 1883. Stavanger can be accessed by both boat and ferry from Tau. You can also drive to Stavanger, but the journey takes about an hour and a half. Having access to a car is also quite useful, especially if you’d like to travel around the area at your own pace.
The closest airport is Stavanger, which has regular flights from many European cities. You can also access the area by sea, including by speedboat. The municipality spans about 77square miles, and the main thoroughfare is Norwegian Road 13.
