This was a wonderful stay! The private in suite onsen was fantastic. The rooms were spacious and super clean. Staff were wonderful! Dinner and breakfast were some of the best we’d ever had. Definitely coming back.
This hotel was beautifully designed, clean and friendly staff. The dinner and breakfast buffet were full of a delicious variety of dishes.
We chose the cable cars to get there which was a fantastic way of exploring the area from above, but the hotel’s shuttle was super convenient for our departure.
We stayed in a Japanese -Western Deluxe Lakeside Room with Open-Air Bath
Pros:
- the resort provided a free shuttle bus that picked us up from Odawara Station and also dropped us off at the station on our departing day
- quiet, new resort
- organized check-in
- within walking distance to the Hakone Ropeway Pirate ship
- scenic views from the reception and dining rooms
Cons:
- the view of the lake was obstructed by the privacy screens on the balcony
- located on the main road which was noisy
- the dining times were a narrow window of time. Both dinner and breakfast times were extremely busy and crowded. Because it was buffet style, it was a bit chaotic. This definitely took away from the calm, peaceful tranquility that we were seeking. It was loud and every table was occupied. It diminished any positive experience.
- the quantity of food was plentiful but the quality was average.
- Check-out time is 10am which is early, as compared to other hotels/resorts. And there was no early check-in and was strictly adhered to 3pm. We arrived at 2pm and had to wait around for check-on.
It felt like staying at a cheap cruise ship.
Food from the buffet was ALL INDUSTRIAL PREVIOUSLY FROZEN! large variety of meals: all absolutely airline quality
