I feel I need to preface this review by saying I am a person of relatively low standards. I am a hardcore budget traveler - a seasoned car camper, porta-potty user, and occasional truck-stop showerer. So when I say this motel was gross, I mean it was *GROSS*. Wear shoes the whole time, sleep in your clothes, don't want to touch the light switches, don't set your things on any surfaces but the bed, old mascara stains on the pillows level gross.
My initial assigned (nonsmoking) room smelled so badly of cigarette smoke that I went to the front desk again for the first time in my life and asked for a change of rooms. My next room still had smoke stains on every surface (including a thick brown film on the lamp and grey marks all over the bathroom door) and smelled bad enough to make me have to wash all the clothes I brought on my trip, but it was a marked improvement from the first one (which smelled like I had moved into a chain smoker's actual body).
Also, the door didn't seem to lock quite right and there was a plastic circle on the wall that looked suspiciously like where a smoke detector was *supposed* to be, but I can't be sure about that.
The staff was honestly nice, and the parking was safe, and I've been in one *scarier* motel, but yeah, all in all, I strongly would not recommend. Next time I go to the event I was in town for I think I'll be sleeping in my car.
