It's an old (style) hotel. You smell it in the elevator (which is also classic), smell of oil and grease. The room we had was pretty big (free upgrade) and beautiful. Nice big bathroom, nothing special but everything clean and working well. The sounds of the city (and street next to it) can be heard pretty well, but I guess that's something that's difficult to prevent anyways. It didn't bother us so much. The beds where ok, good enough matrasses and 2 pillows per bed. There was some height difference between the 2 beds, which seemed a bit strange, but also that didn't bother us too much. I also guess that is not 'standard' in all rooms. The breakfast was very good. More than enough choice and good fresh, tasty products.
It is exactly next to Vrijthof and immediately you walk into the city with all the shops. The location is absolutely perfect. We parked the car a little bit outside the center (Frontenpark parking) for only 12 euro per day. It's an easy walk even with a suitcase (with wheels that is).
