Parking not included, carpark costs £6 per day. Internet not included- costs £7 per day. Listed as dog friendly but dogs are an additional £10 per pet and no bowls or beds provided for this additional cost. Beds uncomfortable, bedding full of gritty substance meaning we both were itchy and the heating in the room was unbearable. Windows opened slightly but this didn't help the stifling ambiance of the room. Satisfactory for price and to stay overnight.. but would not stay again nor recommend to others.

Quite an old hotel, undergoing some renovation.The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The current owners Britannia don't have the best of reputations but I had no complaints about the Prince of Wales and would stay there again.

Brilliant stay
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and there was plenty of jot water. The room was lovely and warm, I fact a little too warm during the night. We parked very easily. They were starting to take down the scaffolding so that should give them more parking for the summer. When we return to the hotel for bed, people were being entertained in the big reception room with drinks.

Most impressed didn’t pay a great deal of money so I didn’t expect much so when I arrived it was a pleasant surprise made a note that next time I’m working there this will be my first choice oh and a good breakfast as well as being served at a good time ( 07:30 )

This hotel has an excellent location and usually love my stay there however this time the heating was off the second night during quite a freezing weekend so that’s the only reason for 3*

Lovely hotel
We enjoyed our stay the staff were very friendly and helpful we had a issue with drunken guest being very loud and abusive above us but the staff moved us to a different room and sorted out very quickly

Not enough space, so in a nutshell: Hotel under maintenance (not advised in advance). Room very tired. Too noisy. Squeaky floors on most levels. No heating in bedroom. Rude staff. Rude and unprofessional manager. Unclean. Misrepresentation (car parking charges) then that’s not even guaranteed. Cold Food. Very disappointed, based on the above facts…..wasted a lot of my hard earned money and feel that a travel lodge would have been a nicer experience…..

Disappointed
I’ve stayed in this hotel a few times and this time I was really disappointed firstly I could not park anywhere due to the whole building being covered with scaffolding so it cost me extra to park outside then I come out to a smashed window, The room was ok I couldn’t close my windows so I had to go out leaving all my possessions were someone could just climb in and take what they wanted so it ruined my night because I just couldn’t relax out.

Where do I start with this review… perhaps the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in!! I have nothing negative to say about the function rooms where the event we were attending took place, but the bedroom, that’s another story! I noticed upon check in that our booking form had ‘Expedia’ written along the top, now whether that had anything to do with the abysmal room we were allocated, I don’t know. Our room was on the fourth floor with no indication whether to turn left or right when exiting the lift, and it was such a small, dark and dingy, room, with a bed and mattress that must have been 30 years old. The view from a high, clerestory-type, window was two rooftops, and thank goodness we are not an obese couple because we wouldn’t have fit through the door of the bathroom – that’s how small the gap between toilet and door was! Breakfast was adequate, but they use paper cups for tea and coffee. To add insult to injury, parking on site is not free, there is a charge of £6, and to use the hotel’s WiFi there is a charge of £7. And today we have received a parking fine from Parkingeye Ltd even though we paid the parking charge and checked with reception that our car registration had been entered into the terminal. Needless to say, this is currently being challenged. My advice to anyone visiting Southport and staying overnight would be…. look for another hotel other than The Prince of Wales! Would we stay there again….no way!!
