I usually give places the benefit of the doubt however the room was over £100 for a single night so is being judged on that basis. I was expecting it to be basic and a bit tired as I know the hotel has been there for years so the issues below go beyond ageing decor etc. Unfortunately there were some minor issues with cleanliness and broken components. The towel rail and toilet roll holders were both broken, both of the mugs provided were dirty, one hadn’t been washed properly and the other had a hair in it. The kettle didn’t automatically switch off when it boiled and so the plastic handle heated up to the point I could only pick it up using a towel. I also found it in the cabinet with about an inch of stagnant water still in the bottom. There were also clear, and what looked to be fresh, stains on the carpet and at the foot of the bed. It looked like a spill from the previous occupant that hadn’t been cleaned properly. As I say, these were largely trivial issues and I don’t usually complain but I paid just over £100 for 1 night so was a bit disappointed. That said, the staff were very friendly and I’m sure they would have helped had I raised these issues at the time. In reality I didn’t actually spend much time in the room other than to sleep. The location for anyone not from Liverpool is ideal. It’s quiet at night but close to the pier head, shops and Albert dock. As I say, I would definitely recommend if it was cheaper or I didn’t encounter the few issues mentioned above.
