High quality hotel with good fitness facilities including an outdoor and indoor pool (water is a bit cold though). Rooms are huge with a very comfortable bed, and are very clean and well maintained.
WiFi in rooms is not great, better in the lobby. No bar that I could find and info on where the two restaurants are located was poorly signposted and poor info on them in the room. They are on level B by the way.
E-cafe Western restaurant was ok, but they literally had the same buffet selection every evening. Breakfast options were fine for western taste, but very expensive. I didn’t try the Cantonese restaurant.
Very little I could find to do in the local area other than the sports facilities. No bars or restaurants within easy walking distance, but there is a small supermarket next door.
Convenient 10-20 minute drive to the canton fair in the free shuttle bus provided, dependant on traffic. Staff spoke enough English to deal with booking taxis etc. Be aware there are two chateau star river hotels in Guangzhou so make sure you have the full mandarin address with you when getting a taxi back to it.
It would be on my shortlist to stay again, but the poor WiFi in the room and lack of a bar stop it from being my 100% go to option. If they sorted those I would stay there every time I visit Guangzhou!
