Very good oocation. It is next to big 2 shopping malls. Also it is very close to george town. Me and my partner will defintely come back here for our next Penang trip.

Almost all the hotel staff I came across at G Kelawei were so friendly and helpful in my 3 week’s stay there . There are two slight unpleasant experiences I would like to mention . I’m sure they could be rectified with very little effort I would have thought : 1. The bath towels didn’t smell as fresh as it should . 2. The ventilation in the lift could be more effective. It’s a very hot and humid town and people do sweat … I enjoyed staying at the G Kelawei very much otherwise .

We had a very comfortable stay. Room was spacious and came with all amenities- toiletries and we appreciate the mineral water and feee soft drinks provided. Gym is opened 24 hours, and breakfast buffet spread was delicious, with option of having it at sister G Hotel at Gurney. Location of hotel is very convenient, next to 2 big malls- Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon mall and short walk to Gurney drive open air hawker centre. Also around 15 minutes to attractions such as Penang Hill, Armenian street.. Had a great stay with the excellent service, will be back!

Not sure about the VIP upgrade. They did not let me know of this. I usually stay at this hotel when in Penang. The room is large and designed well. Breakfast is OK but could be better. Pool is nice but there are issues with maintenance. I would say a good 4 star hotel--not a 5 star.

Great hotel and fabulous staff. I booked in here as it was close to the hospital, where my husband had been admitted. The staff were so helpful and supportive during this time and I am so thankful. My room was fantastic and so comfortable. Although I didn’t use the pool, it looked lovely. Breakfast was also great.

G Hotel Kelawai
The service from the hotel was excellent. Had booked two rooms and requested the rooms be near each other, preferably on the same floor. The hotel team got me adjoining rooms which was perfect. Good breakfast spread and friendly staff who dealt with any enquiry quickly. Great job! I would definitely look up G hotel for my next trip to Penang

Great hotel, unprofessional, rude Manager
I’ve stayed at The G Kelawai many times for business, I usually stay one to two weeks at a time. The employees have a great attitude and make you feel welcomed. This morning I had a very unpleasant experience during checkout, frankly I couldn’t believe it. I originally booked an executive room for one week on the G’s website, then I decided to book a second week and this time Hotels.com had a better deal. So I booked it through them instead, paying up front for the second week. The hotel informed me I would need to get a new set of keycards for my second week, no big deal… I switched them out and enjoyed the second week. Upon check out this morning the manager James informed me I did not pay for my first weeks stay, and that I owed the hotel $4600 ringgits and he was extremely rude and when I tried to explain to him I needed to check my credit card, he again rudely interrupted me and talked right over the top of me. I attempted to show him my credit card statement, he wasn’t having it. In a lobby with other customers and employees James treated me like a criminal. I was extremely upset with his behavior and actions. I informed James, I would give him my credit card but if I find out I was double charged that I would file a claim report against him. After staying in this hotel more than 15 years I have decided my two week visit in January will be at a different hotel.

Check in experience is the most important aspect of the whole stay experience but we meet with unfriendly front desk counter staff! During our stay we request for more drinking water but reply from the front desk is all room limited to max. 4 bottles per day ! Throughout our 4D3N stay we requested for change of bathrobe but totally no change of any new bathrobe without any explanation!

Great hotel. Maybe avoid the set meals.
Lovely stay. We had the set dinner and had the entire restaurant to ourselves. Food at rm45 per pax was value, however the food was lacking and not delicious. Other than that, our stay was wonderful.

Strategically located between 2 big malls; walking distance to a local market for local delights. Consistent service throughout the number of times I have stayed at g hotel - gurney or kelawei. (I do prefer the latter)

My choice in Penang
Outstanding service! Well trained staff, helpful, friendly, proactive, polite. Even the housekeeping crew were fantastic, they take off their shoes when servicing your room! Complimentary ice cream during check in. Nice comfortable restaurant with value for money set lunch & dinner (food so so), but if you’re looking for a beautiful & quiet place to chill or get some work done online, this is a nice cool place to escape from the heat. Excellently located between 2 shopping malls, amenities, Cinemas, eateries & cafes you name it. 5-10 minutes depending on traffic to vibrant Georgetown. Hotel premises well maintained & very clean. Well equipped gym. Nice pool. Room is minimalist, chic & functional. Free mini bar replenished daily (non alcohol). Comfortable bed, firm mattress, clean sheets, AC is cold enough, carpet is clean. *2 things I didn’t like were: Pillow smells(needs to be aired or sunned). Same for the bath towels.

I personally had a great stay at the hotel, but I do believe my parents room which I booked for them had a few outlets that were not working. There was a powercut while we were there.. which meant the aircon was off for half the day. It was a rainy day and a bit inconvienient.
