"This hotel is lovely! The staff were all so kind and treated us very well. There is free coffee and juice in the lobby which was a nice surprise. Beds are very spacious and the AC was a godsend in the August heat. The only thing that is tricky is that the Zaandam train station is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel, and the area is not very well lit. You can take a bus no.391 or 392 to centraal and no.391 to Zaanse Schans, no.392 to Zaandam for the opposite side. Room is clean but has no fridge. If stay more than 2 night, I thought that you should buy an ov-shippkart which cost about 7 euro. It would save about 1.7 euro per person per 1 bus trip to centraal. "As a smoker, and I make no apologies, the smoking area behind the apartment section was often used by groups of men (don't know if they worked there), who had drinks and were loud. Also, there was no sitting area except on a packing crate, so I felt like a nonentity. As a senior female, I didn't feel comfortable. Otherwise, all was fine, and friendly."
