"The staff were welcoming and friendly. We ate supper there the first night, but were unimpressed with the burgers and nachos. The TV in our room was damaged but if didn't stop us from the late night Tipping Point binge... The air conditioning seemed to be struggling and never got cooler than 20 degrees. That said, we were happy with our stay and would return."

"The staff were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Couldn't have asked for better. The breakfasts were excellent too. The only downside was that we looked for hotels with air con, due to the heatwaves. This hotel advertises as with air con. BUT THE AIR CON IS NOT IN THE GUEST ROOMS! The air con is only in the gym, restaurant and reception areas. There are fans in each room and windows that open a fraction, but no air con to cool the rooms. It made the trip less than comfortable because of this."

"This was a last minute find for us as the hotels we usually use in Thirsk were busy. What a great decision it was too. Gorgeous setting for the hotel with a lovely welcome and a very clean and comfortable room. Food was excellent with a full breakfast range and we had dinner here one night too which was equally impressive. On the Saturday there was a wedding all day but frankly they had plenty of staff on so you never felt excluded. Yes this meant a short wait at the bar and Sunday morning there was a delay on some breakfast items but they were serving 180 people so totally understandable and didn't spoil the visit. Above all else the reception and dining staff were exceptional. Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit the area especially being a few miles from York."
