"Be aware that the Victoria Cloisters apartments are in a totally separate building. This was not clear when booking with Expedia and we heard similar from other guests who had also expectes to stay in the hotel. Only because we paid £140 per night do we have the following complaints. The shower head was broken and did not stay in place, and the threat of being charged an extra £25 if we didn't wash up two glasses, one mug and a spoon, and throw away our tea bag in the bins outside, left a bad impression. If we'd have stayed in the hotel I'm sure that would have been included in the service."

"The hotel was just lovely. It's well maintained and beautifully located just 4 minutes walk from the train station and 10 minutes walk to York Minster. Check in was smooth and seamless. The staff are superb. Nigel, our concierge was knowledgeable, patient and helpful with excellent suggestions. Our room was beautiful, spacious and very comfortable with a true (American) king size bed and air conditioning! Lots of closet space (3 in fact). The bathroom was nicely sized with a large tub/shower. The housekeeping staff are wonderful. We ate breakfast once (large buffet with made to order eggs benedict, waffles, etc) and also ate dinner one night in the bar which is lovely. Would be delighted to return."

"Spacious room with view towards the Minster. Everything in the hotel was spotless and well maintained . Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We also had dinner which was lovely and well presented . All the staff we met on our visit couldn't have been nicer or more helpful ."

"Staff were nice, polite and friendly, as always, which is a big reason we've stayed a few times now. Along with the leisure facilities, which are maintained well. Room was clean and had a fan,which was appreciated due to the very warm weather. We'll look forward to hopefully staying again next year."

"Great venue in a great location for not having to move your car. Public transport perfect. Room was lovely to be honest in need for an update however you can see there has been a lot of money spent on upgrading the property so I'm pretty sure they will refurbish the bed rooms pretty soon. Lovely staff this is our 4 stay here and would highly recommend it Kathy and Joe"
