"In my reservation notes I requested a room away from loud areas as I have trouble sleeping, and the person I stayed with had work at 4 AM (two hours away), so rest was very important. We were placed above the bar in the lobby ? directly outside our room with open walls. The bar was closed but remained loud with guests well past midnight. I understand noise while the bar is open, but there did not seem to be any quiet expectations afterward.given my pre request in booking u would think we would be placed away from the BAR.
I called to ask if other rooms were available. The only option available was a room a few doors down in the same area. Staff were very kind and offered complimentary breakfast, which was appreciated, and the breakfast staff were incredibly friendly and helpful both mornings.
The next day we were moved down the hall to the third floor which was quieter, however the room smelled strongly of cigarettes and did not seem like a non smoking room. I have asthma and this bothered me during the stay and I woke up with a sore throat. I assumed availability was limited due to the night before they said that and did not request another change.
While the breakfast was a kind gesture, the main issue was sleep and the ability to enjoy the room. Food does not really resolve that and it felt somewhat wasted when the reason for getting a hotel was to rest. A more appropriate resolution would have been offering a future stay at another doubletree rather than a meal ."
