This is a great hostel. Great view from our room, and the whole building is really interesting. The staff were helpful and it was a lovely experience staying there.
Excellent location & everything was as expected for YHA accommodation.
Comfortable & convenient with very friendly helpful staff.
Our second visit here.
If you’re not going with children, I would recommend visiting during term time!!!
It's a stunning location right on the beach, and it's a short walk over the headland or round the bay, to Robin Hood's Bay.
Wonderful staff. Excellent breakfast. Clean room.
Super cafe bar. Relaxing seaside decor
It's a gem.
Lovely setting and found the place very secure , bit dusty in my room but bedding clean. Kitchen facilities excellent and water facilities great for clean water.. could be better the approach to the property bit risky on the mud and better walkway ..overall nice place to stay
Great stay with my son for an overnight stay. Really good value, limited in luxuries but service great, location is superb, food really good…try the homemade nachos! Will definitely be back to explore further. Beds comfy and clean. What lacks in overall comfort is made up in the natural warmth and laid back atmosphere with kindred souls. Not sure I’d stay with some of the higher prices I had seen for other days..Sunday is good for a bargain stay

Liked: Staff & service
Great location, but didn't enjoy the experience
Great location, nice staff. However, there was a multi family group booking, so it was noisy until 11pm and the communal areas were dominated by the group. As a light sleeper, the banging of fire doors throughout the night kept me awake (even with ear plugs).

It was the great view. Household was so kind. She slowly explain detail for me. I’m not good at English.
My partner was on crutches & just getting to the hostel was very difficult. We were booked in at a room which she literally could not get to. However, the staff were brilliant & swapped us to a room with easier access. She then phoned Whitby up and organised one of the new tents for us the next night. Both stays were brilliant,as we're the staff.Could not fault them in any way whatsoever. I'm 71,my partner is55,and neither of us can wait to take our next hosteling adventure!
Always wanted to stay here, it didn't disappoint. Comfy beds, clean showers ans and bathroom areas. Very friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere, great breakfast.
I stayed 1 night here while hiking the Wolds Way and part of the Cleveland Way. It turned out to be the most expensive accommodation on the whole journey - £79.00 for a tiny single room, plus £5.95 for unlimited continental breakfast, a total of £84.95. The room was not en-suite and had no washbasin or wardrobe / coat hangers.
The size of the single room I was allocated is disgraceful. It appears to be a converted cupboard measuring about 7 feet by 5 feet. The single bed is at an angle in the room as it would not fit in otherwise. With my rucksack on the floor, there was insufficient room for me to walk around it. In over 50 years of staying in various types of accommodation, this is the smallest room I have ever seen which is let out to fee paying guests.
I was not the only one to feel this way. A couple in a nearby ‘double’ (bunk bed) room were so disheartened by their accommodation that they cut short their holiday and returned home the following day.
The Wi-Fi is also wholly unreliable.
If seeking to stay in this area, there is some fantastic and less expensive en-suite accommodation to be found with much, much larger rooms, in Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby and the surrounding areas (with also much more to do)
Even though the location is wonderful, the hostel is vastly over priced. It cost £120 for a double room which was like a very basic cell.
We were a party of 4 and were separated onto two different floors. We were subjected to the noise of other guests at all hours of the night, and the handdriers in the toilets next door which sounded like a hoover being operated at all hours.
The room I stayed in had a very squeaky bunk bed and just one plug socket. There was a sink in there, but little else and you could not socialise in there at all as there was no space.
The catering facilities, although well equipped, were in a long thin kitchen beyond the cafe with no seating or tables. So we had to take our food on trays through the cafe and into an overspill area that you had to go outside to get to. We felt like second class citizens compared to the cafe visitors and we were paying guests!
You are not allowed to consume your own alchohol on the premises. Instead, if you would like some wine, it will cost you £20 per bottle.
The cafe is lovely - including the lovely staff working there - but this is definitely the best bit of the place, and you don’t have to stay there to enjoy it. In fact you get a much better deal as a day visitor.
To summarise: Hotel prices for a less than average hostel experience. I am very disappointed and, next time, will stay in a hotel or air bnb as that is sure to be much better value for money.
A memorable stay for all the right reasons. The decor was evocative, rather than cliched. The rooms were exactly as shown online. A school party was kept separate from the other guests. Heard rather than seen!. The woodburner set the right tone in the lounge / dining area for an autumn trip. Excellent value for money. Would go back.
Boggle Hole YHA has a lovely, warm, welcoming atmosphere. The food is great (and so is the coffee). The staff were friendly and helpful. My room was small, but it was all I needed.
The landscape around is fantastic. Reaching it is not easy if you don't have a car, but it is worth it.
Note that the bathrooms and toilets are shared, but there were enough of them so it wasn't an issue.
Great stay here in the Crows Nest.
The chap on reception/ bar was super helpful and very pleasant.
We have a lively pizza and some ice cold beers.
Room was great, clean facilities and loads of room.
Overall very impressed!!
