What can we say that others haven't. Excellent hosts, comfy rooms and good food. Ideally located for Wells, Wookey Hole and Shepton Mallet attractions. Great to see how a small village pub can adopt to meet the needs of the village - the hub of all that goes on others should take note. Well worth a stay if in the area, but get there early - parking is restricted to a few bays outside or down the road.
Nothing I didn't like! It was a most happy stay, Peter and Veryan are a delightful couple and excellent hosts. All the staff are helpful and cheerful. The lounge bar with it's beautiful open log fire is a truly comforting place to sit.
I would definitely go back and recommend it to others.
A very warm welcome and great hospitality is present at this B&B at the heart of the community. The food and beer are also a highlight. Steak night on a Wednesday and curry night on Thursday, all prepared and cooked on site. parking can be a little tight, but you can use the village store 100ft up the road.
loved my one night stay at the George Inn and wished it could have been longer. The George has the atmosphere of an ancient, old world public house with all the modern amenities a traveller would need. The hosts Peter and Veryan have succeeded in making the George a very pleasant place to stay. Their hospitality was warm and friendly, happy to spend time with their guests and adding a real sense of community to the George Inn which was so good to share.
Our stay at the George was great, Peter and Veryann are wonderful hosts and really looked after us, nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was comfortable especially the bed, and the pub has such a good community atmosphere and everyone was very welcoming. The pub had just received an award and we could see why, well done to everyone for their hard work. We would recommend a visit and hope to return.
it was a great stay, but unfortunately it rained the night before.. Croscombe, prone to getting flooded, but we pitched in, to tidy up.. and opened for Sunday lunch, which was pretty darn good, aswell
We received a very warm welcome from both the owners and the staff. Room was clean and compact. Evening meal and breakfast were delicious. Ideal location between Shepton Mallet and Wells. Would stay again, and recommend to friends and family.
Worth noting that the pub is closed on Sunday evenings which may not be easily seen from the booking details. We went out for dinner which was a pity as the menu looked good.
The owners and staff are lovely and welcoming and we will probably book again but on a night when we can get dinner. Very dog friendly.
The George Inn is what i consider a 'proper pub', it has history & character and if thats your thing, you won't be disappointed, we spent 3 nights there, usually we go to different places to eat when we're away, not this time, the food here is exceptional, so no need to go anywhere else, everyone here is so friendly, and its no surprise we WILL go back next year, Veryan and Peter have a lovely old pub to be proud of, our room had all you expect, & was clean & comfortable, the breakfast set you up for the day, & was very filling, the only thing that could be a problem for those of you with a big car, is parking is a bit restricted outside the pub, but you can park further along the road, thanks again Veryan & Peter, and all the staff, you all made our stay an enjoyable one, and we look forward to seeing you all again next year

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Room 3 is a loft room with many low square-edged exposed beams (below head height) including above the bed ,which on arrival was two singles made up as a double. I had booked a twin room . Of course nothing unusual about beams in a 400 year old inn ,indeed charming, but the risk of head injury made for an uncomfortable stay in this room. Other than this the staff were excellent and the food was beautiful. The Inn has a lovely community vibe to it obviously catering to the friendly locals in the absence of closed shopsand services around it. Thanks for the welcome.
