"We had a fantastic stay at The Vanguard in York. Set in a residential area, it’s a well-located base just a 15–20 minute stroll from the city’s main attractions.
The interior was spotless, modern and well-equipped. Self check-in was easy, and communication via WhatsApp was smooth and efficient. The manager was responsive and went out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay — including arranging parking (on-street or off-street) and a late check-out that made our final day much...

"Very friendly staff who were attentive and chatty. Always saying that if you needed anything else just ask. Breakfast was lovely. Ideally situated close to the river which made for a very pleasant walk alongside the river into the City just 5 minutes away. Room was clean and tidy. A lovely 3 night stay. My only criticism is that the wi-fi was very hit and miss, frustratingly dropping out very often."

"This is what you hope for when you stay at a pub - history, beautiful location, walking distance to everything, comfortable bed, all the usual mod cons and a delicious breakfast.
Of course, for anyone not familiar with staying in a pub, I want to highlight that it closes at 11pm. You will absolutely hear the noise from the pub before then, but the staff close up very efficiently and you can almost guarantee quiet from 11:10pm (which is rather rare and impressive!)
