"I don’t recommend this hotel. Our room had zero ventilation so it got very hot and stuffy at night. There was no fan or ac so it was hard to sleep. There was zero housekeeping and when I needed items like toilet paper or a towel I had to find someone at the front desk - most of the time staff was no where to be found and the front desk was unattended. "This was by far our favorite property we stayed at on our CR vacation which included 5 different hotels. This hotel was peaceful, felt private and truly dedicated to Mother Earth. The food was excellent. The night time hike tour was wonderful. Views are amazing. Wish we had booked it for more nights."

"Our stay at Cala Lodge was an absolute delight! What a very special place Francisco and family have created! We loved staying in the Mathilda House. It was perfect for our family of 5, ages 14-82, nestled in the cloud forest with floor to ceiling windows. It was incredible to see wildlife pass by, we felt lucky to be guests in their well-loved and protected forest. We had dreams and conversations with the howler monkeys throughout the night, and agoutis, coatis and diverse birds were easily seen from the living area and rooms. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Our home was clean, spacious, beautifully contemporary, and well-provisioned, and we received quick support when we had needs or questions. Breakfast was delicious and enjoyed with stunning view over the mountains. We loved exploring the trails and talking with other happy travelers. I will recommend Cala Lodge to family and friends and am grateful for the time that we enjoyed there!"

"The property itself is beautiful and well maintained. I really enjoyed the trails and bird watching tower. Everyone on staff was amazing as well. Reception was so helpful in planning my itinerary and arranging transportation. The on site tour guides were knowledgeable and passionate about their work. The food was delicious with lots of vegan options. My only minor suggestion for improvement is that the spa should be moved away from the pool area as it gets a bit noisy. Overall though, I loved my time at Finca Luna Nueva."

"The restaurant was excellent morning, noon and night...but with the night eating it is only reservations ONLY at 6,7,8,9....but you cannot make them there at restaurant, juist at the front desk. I e-mailed them to make reservationes for that evening, and 5 days later still no response so I am very happy I made a special trip to front desk to get it taken care of. Food was great. Only problem for me was no ice machine in building #3 as I walked the floors one evening for 15 minutes and finally bumped into a local maintaince worker and he said only 1 is on the bottom floor by registration. Sad, usually there is one on all hotel floors near the elevators."
