"I read a number of the negative reviews (after I had booked) and arrived at the hotel with anticipation of being disappointed. I am glad to say we had a lovely stay. Food was good, staff helpful, it is a lovely setting. I stayed in the river view suite and the room was great. Design good and lots of space. There is a lovely walk along the river. "Super convenient and bougie hotel! Great location right on the Douro. Everything was great; just a bit on the pricey side. A bit disappointing that I couldn’t get a room with a balcony or a reservation on the rooftop restaurant, but oh well. Breakfast was good. Was a great surprise to have a second bathroom! As Canadians, the absence of decent, large size coffee is a bummer, but that’s the European way!"
