We loved our stay! It was short notice but that wasnât a problem:) Staff were kind and helpful! We had a nice, quiet evening. Thank you! We will be back :)
TV didn't work . Restaurant where you check in was closed so had to to find a guest to ask about check in. Bed was comfortable and there was hot water. Motel has alot more potential but gave a vibe like it was on the decline

The hotel is undergoing renovations and the photos of the rooms on Expedia do not necessarily match what is there. I booked a king bed and had a room where one of the double beds was removed and one remained, so it was very spacious. The ceiling had been painted and bugs were stuck to the paint, but except for the coffee maker, the room was very clean. Nice sheets and towels. It was priced according to these elements. Quiet and convenient. Helpful staff. I did not try the restaurant but the menu had many items.
Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating! Would definitely stay again.

First, the restaurant was very nice. Good solid food and an enthusiastic crew working hard. It should be reviewed separately from the hotel because:
Second, the three bedroom detached house we rented was not good. An overflowing coffee can of cigarette butts on the front porch. It was not clean(âfilthyâ to quote my adult daughter). The walls had all kinds of smashed bugs and just dirt on them. The floors were not to be walked on without foot protection. The microwave mounted over the stove looked like it had five years of accumulated bacon splatter on its face. The kitchen cupboards had half used bread and such left over from who knows when.
The furniture resembled stuff someone might recycle from the local landfill.
Itâs a bad sign when you walk into a place and the first thing you do is pull out your phone to search for an alternative. There was no alternative. It was a holiday weekend and we needed a spacious base for our exploration. Everything else up and down the road was booked, so we stayed. I asked about the state of that house while in the restaurant(which is also the front desk) and the man said âoh yeah, we rent that out to a lot of traveling Hydro crews and suchâ. Not really a justification for its poor state.
This house really should NOT be rented out in its current state. Even to traveling work crews.
I canât comment on the hotel rooms as I didnât ever see inside one.
In summary: a nice and sufficient restaurant. The 3 bedroom âfamilyâ unit? HARD PASS.
Proprietors were incredibly gracious and friendly. The room was slightly musky but very clean and comfortable. Our kids particularly enjoyed the delicious cinnamon buns from the cafe in the morning.
Just enjoyed the perfect overnight stay and this great motel and diner. The restaurant is cute, very clean and provides super delicious meals, all supported by friendly efficient service. Definitely take the excellent breakfast before starting the day. The bed was extremely comfortable with clean, crisp cotton sheets for a good nights sleep. The shower was also very good. All very reasonably priced. A big thanks to John for looking after us so well. Highly recommended
Went to check in around 6 and office area was closed. Had to walk down and find a random looking guy sitting outside a room to ask. Turns out this was the right person to check me in. Room was ok although some stains on the walls that werenât cleaned up. No AC which may have been my bad for just assuming there would be without looking. Room was stuffy and damp feeling. Had to leave windows open all night and being on the highway that made it very noisy. In the morning when I got up to take a shower there was no hot water. On check out I found my random guy again as the office was closed again. And mentioned the no hot water. The response I got was âthatâs weird. Ya sometimes people say that!â Was looking forward to breakfast at least in the morning but apparently they were not open to serve people for 2 more days.
Would not stay again!
Room we booked wasn't what we got. Ordered the family room with 3 b da, got a room with 2 dou le beds. The coffee maker was gross, brought it up to the staff they brought us a new one...it was better but when we opened it up to use it, there was an earwig in it. Didn't use the coffee maker at all. The room was okay otherwise. The staff were nice, when they were on site. I ended up helping more people figure out if there was staff in site than I should have. I was a guest. Thank God I'm a nice person! I tried to help at least 5 different people find someone to rent a room for the night, and every time the main entrance was closed and locked up like Fort Knox. I didn't have the worst experience, but I won't stay here again.
We were happy to have a clean place to stay but due to being very early in the season there was no restaurant as indicated, it was closed! Water took a very long time to warm up. The room was ready for us as stated. Key was where it was supposed to be. No chair to sit on inside or outside.
Keeping in mind that I requested a pet friendly room - when I opened the door it smelled like a kennel.
There was garbage from the previous user of the room still in the room. No soap, no shampoo was provided - although the lack of overall cleanliness in general might have deterred me from using the shower had these necessities been available.
The bedding had cigarette holes.
There was garbage underneath both beds that I found when my dog crept under to check out the garbage for herself.
When I arrived at 8:40pm, a man who was sitting on a camp chair outside of room 4, smoking asked me if I had a reservation. When I said yes, he verbally told my the code to a lock box hanging in the office door and said my key to room 2 was inside the box.
Please understand, I donât expect a grand greeting but a hello or how are you would be appropriate. He was kind enough to tell me his name.
If I couldâve driven safely to Sault St Marie I would have. Given that I had left Dryden that morning and also had my dog to think about, I chose to stay and leave asap in the morning.
Itâs a motel on the side of the Trans Canada - if you expect nothing except a bed, you wonât be disappointed.
