"When we first were assigned our room and entered, it was obvious that the room had been smoked in. We went back to the lobby and asked to be assigned a non-smoking room. When we went in our new room assignment, the room did not smell as bad, and had an air freshener.
The bed in the room was set up on a frame, and had a cover, but the pillows did not have covers on them (not to be confused with pillowcases, which were present). We ended up going to Walmart and getting cheap pillows instead.
The floors were a little sticky, but were swept clean.
There aren't many hotel options in the Joshua Tree / Twentynine Palms area, so this had to do. It fits the definition of a budget hotel. "
