Relais St Eloi, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western
8/10 Good
"We stayed as a family of four. There were building works ongoing, which we did not know about before, but were informed of immediately when we checked in. The dining room and bar were not available but the hotel did offer a breakfast bag option as an alternative. The room itself was very clean and the beds were very comfortable and there was aircon and a fan provided which was good. The bathroom was also very clean and well equipped. The location is great, a 10 minute walk into the centre of Tour and we managed to park on the street outside the hotel for free. We booked through Hotels.com and the booking said we got a free drink on arrival, we were not offered that but I assume that is because of the maintenance works."
"This is an absolutely beautiful hotel in its own grounds within easy reach of the city centre. The grounds are stunning and the buildings are very well maintained yet preserving the atmosphere of the chateau. The majority of the staff are very friendly and helpful.
However, whilst parking is a luxury for hotels in the city, the parking garage is best suited for cars not much bigger than a Fiat 500. It’s very tight but once you get parked, the car is safe.
Breakfast on the days of our trip was disappointing. The quality is very good but the eggs were cold, the yoghurt run out causing the team to run out to the supermarket, which also had run out. Only one hot drink machine was available causing a long wait for coffee.
This was probably a bad day out of many good days but it took the shine away.
Gents, you’ll need good old fashioned tight swimming trunks to use the pool. Alas, at 58 years old, it’s not a look that I can wear well these days, and as such, I didn’t use the pool."
"We received a friendly welcome from the staff on arrival at City Résidence Tours. The room was clean and well kept. There was working air-conditioning, which we were grateful for as there was a heatwave during our stay. The air-conditioning occassionally made odd noises, but continued to work well for the period of our stay.
The cooking area was clean and well enough equipped for our stay, but was compact. There were two local mini-markets that served our needs for supplies well during our stay.
City Résidence Tours is very convenient for Tours railway station, and we also found it was walkable, about 25 minutes, from Saint-Pierre-des-Corps railway station. The historic centre of Tours and the Loire are walkable from City Résidence Tours.
We took breakfast at City Résidence Tours, once, our final day, before taking the nexy leg of our journey. The breakfast room was clean and tidy with a good range of breakfast foods."
"I needed a respite from the heat so this very cute and clean boutique hotel in Old Town Tours hit the mark. The a/c was great and the location made it easy to go out for a meal or coffee. The noises from the hall were a bit of a problem but I heard nothing from outside!"
"The nearby public underground car park is convenient but the lift is filthy and quite disgusting .
The breakfast was good and varied but the area was not kept clean and tidy during the breakfast hours.
Of several news channels on the television the o ly English speaking g one available was Al Jezera6"
"Great location right on the river and close to the old town, and the main shopping street. Restaurants and coffee shops all close by. Hotel is small and but functional."
"Parking was easy as the hotel had sent a map - it was underground & free as I booked with Hotels.com. Reception was a lovely lady with excellent English. Our room was spacious and had air conditioning which was wonderful as it was 38c outside!
It was very quiet. Breakfast was wonderful such a choice with fresh bread cheeses fruit eggs cereal croissants everything and it was constantly refreshed. Would definitely stay again as good distance from the port"
"Lovely style and frontage of Hotel . Rooms were great and really large bed to stretch out on . All other facilities in room were fine and cool clean. A good size lift to get to other levels. Breakfast was good and had a variety of things on offer as a buffet. Coffee wasn’t the greatest either in the jug or the machine. Very clean and attentive servers. If you park I. The underground Car Park the hotel can give you money off. For those requiring overnight charging for your car there are facilities here too! Lots of places to choose to eat . Will be back to explore Tours in more detail - for us it was a brief stop on the trip home !"
