What else for good and eats outside breakfast?
When we arrived we were looked after well. It was late there was a wedding on and we could purchase food . We were upset to find the next day this was not possible for other evenings. It was not clear that there is no resturant or kitchen to purchase even small salad .what else is possible ?

We booked this room partly because the staff spoke English (so the website claimed). Only one of them could be said to have basic skills. The hotel info in the rooms was only in Italian. This language barrier made it difficult to resolve some issues that we had, even thougn we had a little bit of Italian. When there was a misunderstanding about anything, the staff members treated us as though we were idiots. The food in the restaurant was definitely not four star.

Old castle, great view. Short on amenities. Pool closed too early to enjoy, felt dated considering its billed as modern rooms. Breakfast lacked substantial protein and fruit limited. Nice view.

Restaurant closed, aircon in room inadequate, wifi drops out, hard bed, staff uninterested. Don't even think about staying here, you will regret it! It's a wedding factory at weekends, and just offer the rooms during the week to keep the few staff there are employed.

Lovely Setting & Historic Building
The hotel setting and historic building are second to none, Staff friendly and obliging but bar and restaurant only open at the weekend when we were there which was a bit disappointing. The breakfast selection was mediocre too. However, we would return as the outdoor swimming pool was sublime ... fantastic view across Tivoli and the countryside beyond

Superficial grandeur, poor facilities/service
The hotel public areas have grand fittings and décor. No help is offered with luggage and the lift is ridiculously small. Our junior suite was very spacious and the bed comfortable. However, refurb is needed to achieve modern, let alone 4-star, standards. The aircon failed to cool the room, the fridge was ineffective, the power sockets woefully few, and the drawers and wardrobe doors ill-fitting. The restaurant looks grand on the website but we were not told it closed on Mondays and on Tuesday the restaurant room was not functioning and we had to eat on the terrace.

Great... except for the bed
This is a lovely hotel in every way, bar one: the beds. We had a thin mattress on a board - horribly uncomfortable and totally unacceptable for a 4* hotel. If they just put modern, comfortable beds in every room the place would be perfect. But I suspect they're not as interested in the guests as they are in the wedding parties. They do a LOT of weddings here, and although they're sensitively handled and not allowed to go on too late, the parties are clearly their financial priority. Comfortable bedding ain't.

Beautiful hotel in gorgeous setting
Lovely stay-comfortable rooms, awesome views, relaxed by poolside after days of walking through villa Estes and Georgiana villa-both highly recommended. Our only complaint is that there was something splattered across the wall beside the desk (room 206) which is why we rated “Ok” for cleanliness. The rest of the room and bathroom seemed clean.

Quiet hotel, with great views, far from town
I selected this hotel, knowing that we would want something quiet & with great views for the start of our trip, It is important to know that Tivoli is a day trip from Rome for most people, but we stayed for 3 days. (I highly recommend overnighting here, it's lovely). When we arrived & were trying to locate the hotel, we asked a lady at a souvenir stop outside the train station & she recommended a cab. Once we arrived I understood why. We are walkers & walk everywhere, so convenience is not important for us, but if you are staying at this hotel & did not drive, you will need to hire a cab. It is located at least 25 minutes out of town on foot. The hotel does offer breakfast, but even though there is a dining room, neither lunch nor dinner were available during our stay. We suspect it was due to the fact that it tends to be provided as an overnight option to bus tours as a tour showed up every evening after 8 p.m. & they had obviously already eaten for the day. We & only one other couple were staying at the hotel at any given time, so it's likely they thought it unnecessary to offer other meals. The breakfast was substantial enough to get you to lunch. The rooms were large & do need updating, but the rest of the hotel was well maintained. The staff were wonderful & although they didn't speak a lot of english we were able to make ourselves understood enough to enjoy our stay. The only negative is that if you do not drive you will have limited access to Tivoli.

Poor customer relations
The hotel booked a wedding the day after our arrival. We arrived and the bar and dining room were closed to "prepare" for the wedding. on the only full day we had there all public areas of the hotel were basically off-limits until about 7:45 PM. If we had been at least informed in advance we would not have driven through Rome rush-hour to get there the first night for dinner, and may ave considered a different hotel. All in all, we thought the hotel's handling was very inconsiderate of non-wedding guests.

Four star public areas, two star room
Public areas well presented and in a very nice position overlooking Tivoli. But the room was two star. No safe (broken(; air conditioning on or off (controls broken); electric cable lying under bathroom sink with floor flooding from leaky shower; restaurant huge with bright lighting and poor food (main course tasteless); coach load of Chinese tourists deposited around 10.30 each evening making it Very noisy as soundproofing non-existent. Some tried to recreate music by flushing the toilets in a particular order, others used the corridor as a communal space and shouted at each other even although they were inches apart. Could best be described as a doss house for Chinese tourists. If taken over by a good hotel group and properly run then it would be outstanding but as it is I would not recommend it unless you speak Chinese and want to improve your language skills. Oh and the breakfast is totally forgettable.

Beautiful old hotel with a lovely view of Tivoli.
Very nice rooms, lucked out through Expedia as we (3 couples) had the largest rooms at an awesome price. Too far away from town, so we decided to take a taxi, ( no room for 6) so the driver had to come back for the rest of our group. Gorgeous view of the city day and night and a very nice pool. Great hotel! Friendly staff! 4.9/5 just because nothing is truly perfect!

Restaurant closed
Enjoyed an excellent meal in the hotel restaurant the first night but upon returning from a day viewing the local Villas found that the restaurant was closed that evening. As we did not have a car and Tivoli was not walkable at night we had pay 20 euros for taxis. The hotel advertised restaurant and bar but with restaurant closed on night and no bar ( you could sit in the lobby and the receptionist could get you a drink but this is not my understanding of a hotel bar).

Response from Oriana Checchi Manager on 9 Jul 2017
Gentle customers Thank you very much for your appreciation for our Restaurant. For any booking and information our Gentle Staff in the Reception is always available 24 hours per day and for 7 days per week. Our Restaurant observes one closing day for give to the staff one day off per week , it may be closed to other reservations because full booked or it may be closed because we didn't receive any request or booking from our guests. For this reason we already require a reservation to access in the restaurant, as suggested on our website. The Bar is always open because all the Staff can satisfy the requests of each guest.( also at night time ! ) . Thank you very much for your time and review Best Regards Direction

Underwhelmed
It looks like a really grand hotel standing in the hills above Tivoli but doesn't seem to walk the talk. It's a bit soul-less and seems to cater for coach loads of tourists who arrive in the evening and leave first thing in the morning. The bar wasn't open and the restaurant opened twice over the weekend. That was a pity as you needed to drive into Tivoli or walk about a kilometre along roads that lacked sidewalks most of the way. Housekeeping left something to be desired: we found a packet of condoms in the bedside cabinet drawer and there was a damp problem in the first room we were given.
Gentle Customers Our Hotel is a Castle completely rebuilt and of charm. It has the luck to be site in a Natural National Park ( Monte Catillo ) and to be close 800 meters to the historical city center of Tivoli ( Villa Gregoriana). So we have the prevelage to be site in a oasis of peaceful tranquility , far away from the caos smog and noise of the city but just at 2 minutes from the city center without finding any traffic. Unfortunately each place can have a momentary problem as I think in each house can happen since things can get suddenly broken . We fixed the problem with the lose of water and we provided you a new and cleaned and upgrated room without any extra . If people don't want to drive in the city a Taxi service is available to bring you there with € 8/10 per trip. The Bar is always open ( all day long and night time ) because lo Staff is all here to satisfy all the clients' requestes. Thanks for your time and review Best Regards Direction

Cool setting, poorly soundproofed, abysmal Wifi
The hotel is in a fantastic setting, up above an olive orchard overlooking Tivoli. Its converted-castle structure is very cool but comes with drawbacks. The hotel advertises in-room wifi but even upon check-in they explained that we were unlikely to get signal in our room. We didn't. The marble floors and thin walls make for a noisy stay. The restaurant, which we were looking forward to for dinner, did not open because they did not get any reservations and noon same-day was too late to reserve a table. Also, I pre-paid the room and the manager either ignored or missed that and tried to charge me for the room when I departed. This could be an easy oversight, but it's annoying and inconvenient to explain and prove to the manager that I had already paid. This is a beautiful hotel and if you, as a guest, do not need wifi or phone signal and are willing to overlook the noisiness of the place, then I recommend it. But for the modern traveler just passing through Tivoli, there are likely better hotels that actually live up to a 4* rating.

Shabby not so chic.
Main rooms of hotel okay. Maybe revamped in the last decade. Guest room fairly clean but dark, so who knew? Bed sagged in middle and mattress and pillows very thin and uncomfortable. Bathroom up short flight of stairs....difficult at night in dark. Booked a more expensive room because photos on line looked a little iffy. Pool looked nice but was cold and rainy post season.

Close but no cigar!
This a very elegant hotel in a stunning location. However when a property advertises itself as having a bar and a restaurant one has a certain expectation that these will actually be in operation!! In addition mattress was very lumpy and bath exhibited several years worth of mold adjacent to the tiled wall. They just don't get the details.

As others have said, the hotel is dated and more geared to bus groups than individual travellers. But it's clean and comfortable, and has unbeatable views of Tivoli. Could be really great with a makeover. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable

Beautiful castle hotel with amazing view and pool
We visited as a family of four and loved the place. The staff was extremely friendly and going out of their way to help us. They recommended the best restaurant we ate at on our entire trip, explained how to get everywhere we asked, and kept breakfast open an extra 30min for us when we overslept! The view is superb and the pool out of this world. All of this just a few minutes from "downtown" Tivoli!

ITS A CASTLE!
This was a great experience -it is a castle which is obviously very old but magnificent.... Our room was huge-but I know some are smaller-we stayed on the 2nd floor overlooking the courtyard. Bedding was good (not premium-but good)--original wood walls and beautiful marble and chandeliers. Not s five star hotel experience-but a wonderful experience staying in one of those towered castles you see in the hills surrounding Tivoli and Rome areas! A must if you enjoy that opportunity. Friendly and helpful staff-typical breakfast with variety offerings. No wifi in rooms due to thickness of castle walls--free and available in the lobby, bar and reception area. Great place to hold an event...

Fabulous hotel with view and gorgeous pool
This hotel is exquisite. A former monastery, it retains all its charm: part of the cloister forms a hallway, the thick walls and the tower are beautiful, reception rooms are lovely. The stairways and marble floors add luxury. The views from the hill over Tivoli are exceptional and it has a very pretty pool, one of the prettiest I've seen. My husband found the edge of the mattress too hard, which mattered as two twin beds had been joined together. I had no complaints. The breakfast was a buffet, which was good but, for me, that means avoiding all the processed meats, cheese etc. and sticking to plain yoghurt, whole fruits, plain Italian bread (yum) and cappuccino! The hotel personel were first rate in every way, kind as well as efficient. This is a well-managed hotel. Kudos!
