"When we got to the lodge, the power was out. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and kind. Terri, was our check in person and was so cheerful and helpful even after a frustrating day of telling guests that there was no power at the lodge. Yes, the power did return. The rooms were comfortable and within walking distance to the lodge where you could get food. It was wonderful to walk outside at night and be able to see all the stars without the lights of a town. Would definetly recommend."
"El Tovar provides perfect space for groups to gather and also find their own private time when desired. Location couldn’t be better for exploring the magical Grand Canyon from any vantage point. The free coffee in the mezzanine was a special treat as you can awaken on your own time as friends and family meander up in the morning. A wonderful place I hope to return to someday."
"We stayed at Jacob Lake prior to the scheduled May 15 opening of the North Rim. The hours of services were very limited. The restaurant was not open, however, we were able to get meals at the bar. Breakfast was not available until 8:00 am - not ideal for hikers and others wanting an early start. We were given a phone number at check-in to call if we encountered ANY problems. We left two messages, but never received a call back.
There are no coffee pots or hairdryers in the rooms. Internet service is the slowest I have ever experienced. Our room in the motel was clean, except for ants and buckshot (?) pellets on the floor. This is a satisfactory place to stay if you need to be near the North Rim, and are okay with very basic amenities."
