great staff, clean basic room
basic guesthouse with 5 rooms and a communal room. bed was alright and came with clean bathroom. recommended to pay extra for the air con (which didn’t seem available as an option during booking) as it was really hot when we visited and the room was stuffy after awhile. (only reason y i gave a 4 rating as i was sweating throughout the night)
the staff were great though especially Dhanushka who went all out to arrange a comfortable stay for us, including getting a beer and dinner for us. he also prepared a packed breakfast and got up at 4am to send us off for our yala safari tour.
he also has very competitive prices for taxi services and the yala safari tour. we arranged for a taxi from arugam bay to tissa and were driven in a air conditioned Tata Nano. ride was comfortable and the driver was nice and pointed out the various attractions on our way. didn’t try his safari package as we already arranged for one. communication with him was efficient throughout.
would recommend future travelers to consider staying here as well as his other services

Average or lower hostel
It is just a normal hostel. It doesn't worth 5.
Expensive bottle of water (It was the first time to pay more than 100Rs in this country), long absence of the staff (I was waiting for cold water), dead bugs on the floor and 2 km away from bus terminal.
One thing, I recommend a A/C room in this area. A fan is not enough to have good sleep and besides people who is going to safari tour have to get up around 3 am.
