"Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Cherry Tree. The room and place were lovely and quite modern considering how old the building is. "The Clifden Arms was such a memorable stay! Our room was cosy and spotlessly clean. The bar itself was a beautiful setting, full of character. Dinner was lovely but the breakfast was excellent! A big thank you to all the staff who were so friendly and professional."

"Great pub based hotel, very nice room and comfy bed. Attention to detail was excellent. Oak milk, nespresso style coffee in room. Very nice breakfast, friendly locals and staff. Great beer and food on the evening. Only thing is they only serve food until 8.15pm and bar shuts at 10pm but not really a problem if you know about it and plan"

"I am wary of doing chain hotels but chose to stay here due to the location and the fact it boasted a "fitness facility". The location was convenient as it was sited at a Welcome Break services. I was able to park close to the entrance. I was warmly greeted but on checking in found out that there was a separate £5 charge for overnight parking which was not disclosed at the outset of booking the accommodation. There were multiple dining options either within the services complex or at the hotel restaurant. I over-indulged but was happy to work it off in the gym area. This turned out to be a delusional expectation as the fitness room comprised of a few hand weights which did not go up to more than about 5kg. I usually do cardio on the treadmill but the one they had there was not working so my attempt to work off excess calories was a bust. In certain parts of the corridors there was an aroma which felt more synonymous with parts of Amsterdam. I usually rate my stays based on the triumvirate criteria of shower, sleep and breakfast. The first two were great and the breakfast buffet quite average. I personally believe that this stay did not represent good value for money with the tipping point being the "gym". I would not look to stay here again."

"It is quite dated, it could really do with having some money spent of it. Feels as if it’s not been updated or even had a coat of paint in the last 10 years. I stayed in an executive room, lots of marks on the walls, damaged furniture and it was just very tired. WiFi in the rooms is terrible. Staff waiting on tables and in the bar did t seem like they wanted to be there, no one checked if my food was ok, or if I needed anything "

"Rather tired property. Understaffed. On checking at 3pm there seems to be only one member of staff covering reception and the bar. We asked for some tea with cake or biscuits, and we were told we could only have tea because afternoon tea had to be booked 24hrs in advance. We were hoping to have atleast biscuits or cake but there were none. We were told that the chef leaves at 3pm. The hotel is isolated and there is no where nearer to get anything. We were group of 8 stayed at the hotel and were disappointed. No water bottle in the room either. Hotel is expensive for what you get. "
