Quite a gem!

Our hostess was absolutely hands down the sweetest woman! We loved chatting with her. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and quiet. It was the best part of our European vacation.

Charmantes Appenzeller Hotel

Die Linde ist ein sehr gut geführtes, charmantes Appenzeller Hotel (und Restaurant). Die Zimmer sind nicht mehr ganz neu, aber gut unterhalten und mit vielen schönen Details. Der Service ist ausgezeichnet und das Frühstück war sehr lecker.

Excellent hôtel familial. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié l'accueil très chaleureux. Fenêtres fermées , les chambres d'angle que nous avions sont très calmes (fenêtres ouvertes, on entend le train qui passe à côté de l'hôtel). Elles sont très bien aménagées, très propres et avec une literie confortable. Très bons petits déjeuners. Nous avons également mangé un excellent repas du soir au restaurant.

Consider alternatives

The room had no air conditioning and the night I arrived it was heavily humid with a strong odor of cooking oil coming up from the kitchen. I requested a fan but was told that the other guests were using all the fans and that I would have to wait for one of them to check out. At that point I became angry. The hotel agent clearly understood that I did not find his response acceptable and returned five minutes later with a large fan. Although the room was small it was clean and, with the fan going continuously, relatively comfortable. It is also important for any prospective traveler to know in advance that the photograph of the hotel in no way matches the reality. It was definitely doctored to make the hotel appear far more externally charming than it really is.
