We stayed 4 nights in a Captain’s Junior Suite as a couple.
Positives:
The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the hotel has beautiful antiques that add a lot of charm. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore the area.
Negatives:
Unfortunately, the overall attention to detail was lacking. The bread at breakfast was never fresh, and the hot chocolate option on the coffee machine was broken for all four days, with no alternative offered. Scrambled eggs were consistently runny, and the inside of the elevator was visibly dirty. Our bed cover was worn and dirty, which felt disappointing for a hotel of this rating.
The air conditioning in the suite was noisy and didn’t cool well. A fan was brought to the room on the second day, which helped, but it wasn’t ideal. We were also surprised to find that the hotel bar was closed for the summer.
Overall:
Given the hotel’s high rating and price, we expected more. While it wasn’t a terrible stay, it was definitely below expectations and left us somewhat disappointed.
