"The lobby area, restaurant, pool and our room were all clean however we were there for three days and the hallways carpets were never vacuumed and clearly needed to be. The hallway walls also appeared to have either water damage or badly patched holes. The staff at check in and in the restaurant were exceptional though. "

"PROS- We stayed for two nights. The staff was polite. Located 1 km away from the Rogers Centre. Our room itself (#21) was very clean, updated and makes use of every square foot to create storage. We had a Queen size bed that was very comfortable and 4 pillows. It also had a small fridge. We had a large window with a view of Beverley Street going up. There are plenty of eateries within a 400m radius, a pharmacy and an LCBO across the street. The bathroom was however quite spacious in comparison with the room. This room would be perfect for a single person. They provided ear plugs - already in the room. The A/C worked brilliantly, newer model and very silent. White linens which is always a plus. We reserved 5 months in advance and the rates were very affordable for Toronto. The television set is one inch thick and also acts as a piece of art. CONS-When we first entered the room, the heat was set to 30°C. After 10 min. and switching to A/C, it was cooler and pleasant. The room itself is very very small. You cannot walk pass the other person in the room if you are both beside the bed at the same time. If you have mobility issues and are two in this room, I would suggest a larger room during booking because getting out of bed if you're against the was can be tricky. Our 6 digit number key pad number was often tricky. The biggest issue was cold water in the shower. We advise the receptionist after the first night about this, it was felt unresolved the following morning."

"This was my first stay at the Rex and it was awesome! The staff are particularly great and the music acts were amazing. I've never watched a Jazz performance live before and I was captivated watching the Saturday main event, which was Don Byron and NOJO. I ended up staying through both sets and then the late night performance which was a group called Flintlock, who were also great. I booked Sunday night as well and had another great show with the Steve Holt Jazz Quintet. For meals, I had the chicken fingers on Sunday night and the BLT and home fries when I was checking out on Monday. Both meals were very good, reasonably priced and the portions on the chicken fingers were huge. My room was very nice and surprisingly quiet considering the hotel's location. The bed was comfortable and the price was one of the best values in Toronto. I booked everything a few months in advance though and I would recommend you book your rooms and buy any tickets for the shows ahead of time as both shows were sold out and I heard their rooms are being booked for the summer already. I am definitely making this hotel a regular stop for my frequent trips to Toronto."
