I love to give people and places the benefit of the doubt, but after I experienced this “resort” this week, I can confirm all of the negative reviews are true. Is the staff pleasant? Yes, of course, and it’s certainly not their fault this place is completely run down and understaffed.
My family has owned a multitude of successful businesses and establishments. I’ve also been able to personally travel and experience a plethora of lodges, resorts & hotels. I encourage the owner of Oakwood to do the same.
Let’s get into the specifics:
-rooms aren’t just dated, they are DIRTY
-yes, I knew there would be no house keeping, but not even taking the garbage, recycling or providing cleaning towels without asking 2-3 times in the same day??
-has a “private beach” but no option to rent towels, chairs, umbrellas or even water crafts
-has dog friendly rooms however places families with kids and adults who don’t like dogs next door to you, oh and god forbid your dog barks- noise complaint.
-you can hear everything. Both neighbours on each side, and especially those above.
-absolutely no one at the counter at checkout
This resort needs a MEGA refresh and it’s totally achievable, but you need to LOCK IN. Please invest. Please consider bringing in actual experienced management that cares about the customer experience. What a shame it would be for this piece of Canadian property to go to waste.
