"Very friendly staff all round .The hotel needs a bit updating stairs to room ,we stayed in Apple blossom room which was spacious with a large bathroom .Mini fridge in room with fresh milk nice touch .The room was comfortable in the heatwave ,with a fan included . "Room was ok but had just been taken over so under new management. Beds we had was really uncomfortable and no light bulbs in bedside lights . Very noisey outside and due to being hot had to have windows open. We were moved rooms to more comfortable beds and light bulbs in bedside lights . There is improvement to be done . "This uh, historic, pub inn, is the kind of hotel where they clean it so rarely you regret taking off your shoes. The smells that overwhelm you as you enter are complimentary. The shower gets an honourable mention here because not only is the mold and dirt so omnipresent you soon forget about that because it feels like the base is going to give out from under you. "The property is 400 yrs old so expect things to be uneven. The current owners have only been there a few years so maybe they still have work to do. The bedrooms are described on the website as "stylish "....I would say plain. The bedding was clean, bathroom ok but it was difficult to get the shower to the right temperature...it was either boiling or cold. Room 5 had a frosted window but it was hot so we had it open. The room could do with a slight update....e.g. more plug sockets and a bigger...
